Forgive me for not loving my cat as much as some of you do but I'm not a wash my car kind of a guy. There's always some sports the tv. Does anyone run their cars through regular car washes? When I bought the car (challenger widebody) the sales guy said not to go through a car wash. The black paint is the same as any challenger so I wonder why not use the car wash for when it gets dirty enough.
Are the wheels what I should be worried about?

About 4500 miles in my first year and loving every mile. I'm in the SF Bay Area.

Thanks

I ran my pitch black Challenger through the car wash until I lowered it and wouldn’t clear the tracks any more. Didn’t seem to hurt anything. Always touch-less and not those whirly brush setups though. The car wash had a towel dry staff so rarely had water spot issues either.

I hand wash my vehicle almost every weekend. Last weekend I did a @ 1k mile road trip. When I got home, the car was dirtier than it has ever been. Especially the wheels.

The next morning I cleaned all the wheels by hand.

Front wheel clean, back wheel still dirty.

I then took it to a touchless, trackless car wash on my way to work to get a lot of the grime off.

Now it looks good from afar, but far from good.

I'm looking forward to giving it a good two bucket hand wash this coming weekend.

I'm not that anal about the paint, it's not a show car.

The car had imperfections when I bought it used, and it will get more imperfections the longer I own it.
I have no qualms about auto car washes.

If it looks that bad in a few years, I'll repaint it.

I love my car and have had 2 Scats and one Cat. I ran them all through the car wash. Sometimes daily if it got dirty enough. The widebody is a little tough to line up as the wheels are almost as wide as the track that guides the car but I never have had an issue with a wheel being scraped. just make sure its a well maintained car wash.

I do the touchless once a week. sometimes if it's really filthy I'll go through the regular one. I'll also hand wash really depends but yeah i have no issues with a carwash.

No, hell no. My car is a 2016 and not a show car at all. Aside from a few nicks here and there, the paint is in great shape. I've always hand washed my own cars (except for a beater or two), from my first 44 years ago. Those auto washed NEVER get all the dirt, and then the guys dry it with "clean" towels. Hello scratches.

Hi,

I live in the country hard water, so it gets hand washed at the car wash and goes through touchless when it's cold out (MI) got 16,000 on my 2020 now and do what you can, they are meant to be driven and enjoyed.

I just got back from a road trip 2500 miles and my car is filthy, will be getting a hand wash this evening, next week it might go through the touchless, either way it's cleaner than waiting to have the time to do it properly, especially when it's 30 degrees out like it will be in a few months as mine is a semi-daily driver until mid December.

Regards,
Jim

Touchless only for me. My back won't allow me to bend over to anymore to wash. I used to always wash my cars by hand and change oil myself. But my back and father time have different plans LOL.
