Dodge Will Make an All-Wheel-Drive Challenger Hellcat Next Year

Very interesting!!! Wide body to boot!!!

The Hellcat version will apparently be called the Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer). See below.

UPDATE: The original article I posted was later clarified and updated to indicate that the Hellcat ADR is rear wheel drive. So it looks like an AWD Hellcat is probably only happening in the Jeep. Sorry for the confusion. I got too excited ;). But damn, wouldn't it be sweet???

Sure, use the Grand Cherokee SRT driveline and change the sheetmetal. They will need to work on the weight of that thing if true. It would be trick with those wide wheels/tires we saw last week being tested.

I wonder how this would stack up against the Nissan GTR? I read that Nissan is working on a hybrid GTR with "800 HP" from the factory in 2020-2021. GTRs aren't light to begin with, almost 4,000 lbs. Adding hybrid tech would obviously push past that. Still, I would go with the ginormous American Muscle Grand Puba just because 'Merica.

I would like to know three things: (1) How they are going to get past CAFE requirements? (2) How much will this thing cost? (3) Will it use a modified version of the Jeep Trackhawk AWD system? My guess is that this will be a limited run and add a $10,000.00 premium to the MSRP.

Just got back from a road trip in my Charger and though having 500 pounds shaved off would be nice, I can't help but think it wouldn't be as nice a daily driver car. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Jeep won't be priced too far out of my range as I'm on the list at my local dealership for a possible trade. I like the idea of 4WD.

I think the Jalopnik writer got it wrong. According to AutoNews, there are a couple of Challenger models coming: the V6 AWD called GT AWD, and the Challenger ADR, which combines a widebody kit with the traditional RWD Hellcat powertrain.

There is no AWD Hellcat version from what I can see. The Jalopnik "hat tip" indicates they based their article off the Road & Track reporting, which in turn was based on the AutoNews reporting. As near as I can tell, only AutoNews did any new discovery/reporting; the other sites are just repeating it, inserting unrelated pictures, and muddying the waters.

The Road & Track article is purely speculating about an AWD Hellcat variant. They basically say "well, if they're doing AWD anyway they could do an AWD Hellcat by using the components they've developed for the Grand Cherokee Hellcat." Maybe, but that's not reporting, that's guessing.

After everything Hellcat, ultimately, I will believe it when I see it. I just shared the articles because it would be cool if such a thing were built. I do not know if this is real or not, but if it is, I'd be the first in line. Also, the Road and Track folks updated their article just a little bit ago discussing the ADR will be rear wheel drive. It was not worded that way originally.

Thats a very misleading post title you posted. No awd Hellcat for 2017. RS has already confirmed that. That article clearly says "theoretically they could build it".
And that wide body fender flare contraption has to be the fugliest ghetto machine ever to be designed. I really hope that thing gets veto'd by the upper Dodge people.

This looks like it would be a 2018 model.
It will take them that long to stockpile drive shafts and axles! Hoping free towing is included
