$5k....the HK head unit is obviously in place and we are still trying to fine tune it with sound processors/EQ's because unfortunately the HK factory radio does not have a full range output.

Props and many thumbs up +++ for choices and clean install / component locates. (No cooling concerns or air flow restrictions you chose some big guns re pa's?) Very trick!

Which processor are you running? RF 360.3? Any pictures of the fronts? Are the fronts in stock location? I have a 12" JL sub and 600 watt amp that I am thinking of installing.

Audio control LC-8 processor. Next time I pull the door panels I get a pic of the speakers. Here is a pic of the optima battery for the sound system.

We did not get the sound we were looking for using just the LC-8. It looks like we might have to go with something like the RF 360.3 with an EQ. More money but whatever it takes to make this work with the factory deck.

So, should I cancel the HK option, and custom install from scratch or should I leave the HK option as is and swap it out after?

How many % better is your new system in sound quality.

I personally think that the HK systems sound like a cheap 80's boombox playing in the car (like a speaker in a tin can). I was going from 2015 GMC Denali Yukon Bose system to this I was very disappointed. I think that you should scratch the HK because it will give you too many problems if you are thinking of upgrading. Stay with the basic system and upgrade the speakers and amp. Right now we are having a hard time tuning the system because the HK was too sophisticated and sent only certain signals to certain speakers. A nightmare when you want to upgrade and can't get full range signals from the factory deck.

Thank you for your advice!
Now the question becomes--- how much will one have to spend to get a system that can be installed after delivery to surpass the HK Stereo?
Your install was killer and over the top!
Besides The wife tells me that I am half deaf anyway.

You can get one heck of a system for $1995 that they want for the HK. Save your money and replace all the high/mid speakers and an amp, get some subs with another amp and you still would spend less than they are asking for the HK system.

So the 6 speaker system has full range soon to all the speakers. I'm planning to add 2 jbl subs and I haven't decided on amp yet. I have a 05 Yukon with the bose system and 2 subs and a pioneer nex 8000 head unit. I don't even use my subs unless I want extra bass but that bose system sounds great with just a head unit upgrade

As a new charger purchaser, I've had to answer a few of the questions others have posed here. Here is what I've found:
When I wasn't able to get the hk upgrade when I had a chance for a vin,
I went to my regular installer and asked about bang for buck $2k system upgrade, what can we do?
Not surprisingly, He said the stock system sucked and two grand was tough, but for three we could really outdo the og....so......once my charger baby is finally home, we we going to find out!
While I'm not an audiophile, I do know what I like, and I've never had inexpensive taste! They are aware of this!
Being in the heart of so cal, I get to see an awful lot of cars, these installers do quite a few of the award winners on a consistent basis. They are very familiar with the charger and challenger styles and features. I feel I can trust their advice. I've used them for several custom projects in the past and they've never failed to deliver!
All that being said, here, where everything costs more, I can exceed the factory performance for about one and a half times the cost of the factory upgrade. I'm really hoping there won't be issues with the factory interface.
I'm sure I'll be happy with volume and thump!
Stay tuned for further updates...now she won't be home 'til mid may (I hope)....

It's sad the factory Alpine system in my 2015 Ram 1/2ton eco-diesel sounds 5 times better then the H-K in my Charger Hellcat, even dealer agreed, they sent a tech ticket to Star, and received a reply that a TSB would be released when they find the fix. Something involving the 900 watt green amp.. not holding my breath. Guess on the upside, all motor no sound, even the exhaust needs more throat, Super Snake at least has a mean rumble for the buck....

Have you thought about using the Audio Control DQ 61? This is what I have bought to try. It allows me to bring in 3 different left and right pairs and the combine everything and then EQ them out to 2 or 3 amps with one being specific for a subwoofer. My thinking is I can bring the front speakers in for the highs and lows, the door 6x9 "subwoofer" speakers which seem to be high lows and then the actual subwoofer.
