As the thread title would suggest, I took delivery of my 2015 Challenger Hellcat yesterday at Beaman Dodge, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A good friend and I went to pick it up, and meet up with forum member BrettM and his daughter at the Dealership. The Cat looked amazing sitting inside the showroom floor. More about how BrettM and I met a little later in the story.
The wait. I was late to the game in 2014, having purchased a 14 SRT8 Core the previous November. Was able to convince myself that it made absolutely no sense to trade after only a year for the Hellcat. But I succumbed to the pressure and eventually ordered a Cat from BF in late Oct.. Bob seemed to have a great reputation and assured me I would get a car if I were willing to wait until the Spring. I had joined the forum about the same time, and begin the process of taking it all in. Sold my SRT Core in mid December preparing for an eventual new Hellcat. As we all now know, things were rapidly changing from Dec and into the new year. Allocations, rumors, rule changes, too little info. abounded. I then realized that since Bob would not share with me where I was in his long line, I knew that I needed to be proactive like many of the forum members had been.
BrettM and Beaman, I had PM'd Brett after hearing that he had taken delivery of his Hellcat and knew that he was located in the Nashville area. I asked him about the Dealership, and how he rated his experience. Too my surprise, he had nothing but positive things to say about Beaman Dodge, and said that he had purchase his car at MSRP. I had investigated Dealerships in the Southeast, and this was one of the few that weren't gouging the customer. Brett gave me the contact info. and the deal was made. I would be third in line with a BX VON and had dropped the satin hood option due to the backlog. The date was March 5th. Much to my surprise, I received a phone call from the Dealership on March 25th, telling me I had went D status and had a VIN! As it turns out, I leapfrogged the two in front of me, as they both had the satin hood ordered. D1 a few weeks later and built on April 11th. Almost a month to get it to the Dealership, but arrived a few days earlier than expected which is always a nice surprise.
Thoughts and Observations, After being on the forums since last year, I was preparing myself for possible issues. I would accept some, but if the car was really wacked, I would walk I told myself. This would not be an issue. Fit and finish were much better than my Core. Door, hood, and trunk lines are near perfect. The finish of the paint is great. I'm in love with the Laguna Sepia leather. Looks like really good workmanship on the stitching and the leather seems to be heavy and durable. I know others have complained about the HK sound system. They must have this fix in place. My son was home and found some rap on the XM radio. (read heavy bass) Cranked up, the bass will vibrate you in the front seat. Seems to be a tight bass as well, not a rattle bass. Highs and mids are of very good quality. I'm uses to high end audio, have had strong systems in the past. This rates up there pretty high. Maybe they have the bugs worked out?? With only 150 miles on the odometer, I can't speak yet of the power of the car. Have had it up to 4500 rpm and it's impressive. Very stable out on the interstate. Can't wait to get to 500 so we can stretch it's legs. The gear box M6 seems to be much more precise than the Core I had. I like the 2.70 rear gears as it allow for idling into my neighborhood without shifting into second.
I AM THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS CAR
