My 2016 front OE pads are nearing min spec after 21k miles, it's time for replacement.
Everyone here knows the deal, the OE pads are $700/pair and the rotors are $2200/pair. Aftermarket options exist from DBA, PowerStop, and Centric, with the forum favor appearing to tend toward the PowerStop Z26 pads on DBA replacement rotor rings, unless I've missed some threads to the contrary. I'd be interested in any follow-up opinions on performance and dirt from those Z26 pads as compared to the OE pads, and on the reported crazing problems of past DBA 5000 rotors, whether they've resolved that issue in recent years.
But what's the threshold for just swapping pads without rotors? How many thousandths of an inch or microns deep should any grooves on your rotors be, for one to not consider swapping new pads onto old rotors?
