Build date/In service date

Just discovered all you have to do is call a Dodge dealer and give them your VIN, and you can find out the build date of your car and the in service date. The in service date is when it was first sold and driven away as brand new. Pretty interesting. My car's built date was November 19, 2019, but the in-service date was August 31, 2020. Looks like she sat for quite a while on the lot, although it was during the height of the covid. Interesting info & super easy to get.

Wow, that's long. Some dealerships drive them around before ever getting titled too.
Then it that case the warranty would start when the dealership puts the car in service. Not for test drives but if the dealership uses a car regularly or assigns it to someone to use like a manager or salesperson, then that date is considered the in-service date and the warranty period would start on that date.

Basic Limited Warranty

E. WHEN IT BEGINS

The Basic Limited Warranty begins on either of the following dates, whichever is earlier:

- The date you take delivery of the vehicle.

- The date when the vehicle was first put into service — for example, as a dealer “demo” or as a FCA US LLC company vehicle.

Here's the MDH from a 2016 Hellcat.

The car was built in Nov of 2015.

The MDH 110723 decodes as build finished,
