I have a 2022 Charger HC with 2k miles on the clock. I just noticed that in the last 50 miles or so it will shake at idle when started or sitting at a stop light. It is worse when cold. I first thought it was a fuel issue so I ran some heet through it and topped it off with the best fuel I could find. I always run premium in it and took it easier during the break in period. I daily drive the car and don’t beat on it. The fuel didn’t make a difference. The tach is dead straight at idle. There’s no sputtering or knocking of any kind and the engine seems balanced and running smooth. It drives perfect.

I have noticed if I manually shift from 1 to 2 while stopped it makes a slight lurch/bump while stopped. I had the dealer reset the PCM and it didn’t make any change. I’m about to bring it back in again, does anyone have an idea on what it could be? I’m thinking something transmission related but I’m no mechanic or engineer. Thanks!

My guess is a transmission issue. Where, no idea.

It could be something in the EGR system and/or a fuel delivery issue with the idle settings, but the bumping when selecting gears is the bit that tells me its likely something in the transmission. I'm not a good trans guy, so I can't troubleshoot that one out.

The trans shift while stopped making that bump is normal. Not sure about the idle shake.

Wonder if the SC seal may be leaking a bit of coolant into a cylinder, causing the shaking at idle? I think I remember reading about this issue a while back.

I’m not either. I’m suspecting it’s a trans issue as well but someone more mechanically inclined than me will have to look through it. Thanks for the reply

If you have bad gas, you need to burn off the entire tank to near zero and refill before you know.
I noticed the issue with about 1/2 tank. Added a can of heet in it, filled it up, and it’s down to about 1/2 again. So I would assume the bad gas has worked it’s way out. But I could definitely be wrong!

Thanks for letting me know that it’s normal. I’m pretty familiar with the HC powered vehicles and I have never noticed it before. I think I am just paying more attention now that I know something else is up.

If you get bad gas, it will usually throw a CEL multiple cylinder misfire at some point.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I hadn’t heard about that issue. I’ll go look in to it!
