Bumper Scrape

Well it finally happened. I scraped up my lip and now it looks like garbage.
Do you guys think if I sand and polish it I can make it look better?
Or is replacement the only option.

Try a heat gun to soften up those scratches. If not, then replace. You will never make it perfect like the factory finish.

Be careful with the heat gun too, or you will likely end up with darker/shiny spots.

I agree - you will never repair it back to the factor finish.

Have to replace , dealer damaged mine on my 21 HC and it wasn’t as bad as that and couldn’t be fixed…

I heard a new front piece is not that expensive, just the labor to remove the bumper sucks.

Did you hit it parking? I ALWAYS back in I still can't judge the front of this car!

Don't bother with the heat gun (or at least be careful with the front facia: it can be damaged by heat). If you want the "like new" look, get a new piece.

try wet sanding the side a little....then put on the carbon chin spoiler protectors until you decide to change the spoiler... unless you would prefer to deal with the damage....just a thought...I know I'm gonna get heat on this one....lol

Yeah I was backing up and it was just the RIGHT exact angle and just scraped the curb barely. Ugh

Sorry for your scrape, sucks.

After 6 years of driving 2 of these I too can't judge the front worth a damn! I'll pull forward into a spot thinking I'm 6 inches from the curb only to find out I'm 2 to 3 feet away.

I’d just rock if scraped. The bottom of mine is already but you can’t see it. If I ever split it or really crunched it I’d replace it. That’s just some speed ribbing you got there

I used to freak over that kind of stuff, too. Especially if it's a newer car. But as time rolls along I realized it's not new anymore and those things just happen when you drive this car. Wish they didn't. But if you replace or repair it then wait like you said he should wait till he sells it and then replace it $200 because it will surely happen again.

The first rock chip is always the worst. Gets a bit easier as time goes on, as you say. 😁
