If that comes to fruition that will be a hum dinger of a machine. Not really in the same category as the Challenger or Charger, but a monster for sure.

Looking to see how fast they will be with boost.
I don't know how well flat plane cranks deal with boost, but with a number north of 600 hp I suspect it won't be long. Also, does anyone agree with me that this thing is going to be able, or should at least in theory, to compete with basically all the Ferrari and Lamborghini offerings?

The ZR1 will be a turbo'd version of this engine, so you wont have to wait super long...

The ZR1 and Zora versions absolutely.... the Z06... will probably compete with more of the lower end models for Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini. Keep in mind the current GT500 is a flat-plane crank and is already at 760HP

However, with 618HP and it weighing next to nothing, I still expect this to decimate everything under 150k

Without a doubt it will compete and win against any supercar. I'll bet it does under 7 minutes around the Ring, 1:10s at Road Atlanta, 2:10s at Sebring, and the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds. It's all about power to weight, and cornering and braking. The ZO6 will destroy every Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes. McLaren, Ferrari, and Lambos will be the closest competitors. My prediction is that the new ZO6 will beat them too.

The C8R, which is basically a Z06 with less horsepower (500hp/480ftlbs) already ran a 1:16 at Road Atlanta... and ran two laps of 1:55 at Sebring.... so yeah, this car is going to be redonkulous on the track...

No one knows anything concrete yet. All info is guesses based on “leaks” and inference such as a FPC from mules and video. GM has not announced weight, hp, or price. All we know is a Z06 is coming has a FPC and a revel date. We have a lot of details unknown.

The GT350 is a flat-plane crank, the gt500 is not.

All this benchracing when Chevy has already said it’s delayed so they can continue to soak the current marketplace with the base car.

If and whenever it comes out, we’ll see what the actual s numbers look like.

If the ZR1 is more than 2 years out they would be nuts not to have a mild hybrid system like every other mfg out there. 200lb ft instant tq is a lot more than you think it is when your waiting for the engine to get into power.

Yes, thanks for the correction... the GT500 is a cross plane, good call!

The horsepower was already officially announced - 618 HP. The weight of the car wont be too different from the current car, probably 200-300lbs heavier with the wider tires and slightly different motor.

They have the E-Ray coming out (C8 basic plus hybrid - will be faster than Z06 in straight line) and the Zora which will be AWD and 1000HP

Actually I don't think it will be that much heavier, I think they'll find ways to trim some fat, even with the larger wheels and tires. My guess is no more than 100lbs more than the base C8, possibly less.

If it’s a hybrid no way around the weight of the batteries.

And they can announce anything they want until a release date.

Only official announcement is it’s delayed…

Saying Chevy’s car in 2023/2024 is going to be faster than this or that is ridiculous. Do people expect the bleeding edge exotics to not have anything in the pipeline ?

New baby mac foreshadows what’s to come.

I bet this new ZR1 can’t event hang with the latest 911 when it ever comes out stock for stock ?

Why does everyone expect history to change ?

To be fair, I’m pissed the C8 is so damn small for tall guys.

I expect it will also add some aero, probably a heavier set of brakes too....

Motortrend weighed the Z51 packaged C8 and it came in at 3,587lbs, which is 221lbs heavier than a base C8 (3366lbs dry weight).

When the Z06 was supposed to come out this year, speculation was prices start at $85k. Can you imagine if it indeed started under $90k????
I’ve never been a Corvette person, but this thing really has me intrigued. 600 + hp on this platform is going to be ridiculous! Someone mentioned bench racing and unknowns, but the current C8R is running a detuned version of the new Z06 engine.

Yea when I said base C8, I didn't mean base (no options), I just meant the C8 Stingray Z51. I kind of assumed the Z06 might be slightly heavier than the C8 Z51 but not by much, we'll see though. Slightly bigger wheels and tires, brakes are probably good enough from the Z51 model, and no intercoolers or blower to additional weight since its naturally aspirated. All it would take is a some carbon fiber body pieces to trim some of the weight off.
