I want to get the chopping sound most get from swapping cams out.
But from what i been reading swapping the cam isnt really needed with the motor being stock.

So my question is can u tune the curret cam (factory) to get the chopping sound?

It seems swapping the cam out wouldnt be udeal for me, as i its my daily and i dont track run it or run it in high rpms.
Thanks

I think somebody tried a fake cam chop tune but couldnt make it work without getting a CEL if I remember correctly. Honestly, I can't remember who told me that or where.

No tune for the 2011+ Hemi's that will give you the chop sound that I know of. Mustangs have the Ghost Cam Tune from Lund that gives you the chop.

MMX or HHP have some nice Cams for the Hellcat that will give you that sound and a few HP.

Appreciate it. Yeah just can't see paying so much for so little. But i mean hellcats are are built asf.

You will need a higher lift, longer duration cam to get the chop on a Hemi. If you do that, you'll need some mods to make it work right. Mustangs can tune a software cam setting because they have an advanced VVT system. Dodge has a pushrod motor. Two totally different things.

Overlap makes chop.

A cam that measures 222/230 @0.50 and a 108 degree LSA has 10 degrees of overlap.
A cam that measures 232/240 @0.50 and a 113 degree LSA has 10 degrees of overlap.

These two cams will sound virtually the same at idle in the same motor.

This what 10 degrees of overlap sounds like from my old LS1:

That cam was a 238/242 @ 0.50 with a 115 degree LSA....10 degrees of overlap.

I know this: A good tuner can make an LS with a very smooth idle, chop like my Firehawk did. But I don't as much about tuning a Hemi. Seems more like black magic or voodoo in the Chrysler world.

All you need is the Enhanced Valet Mode Security update from Dodge and you can have all the almost-stalling unstable idle you could ever want.

Really do like their advertising it however it bugs me with camshaft marketing cause everyone loves the lope, rarely do videos like these or for sale listing detail out EXACTLY what was done to make it have that profile

Forged block, ported heads, catless mids, straight pipe exhaust and what all can be done by tuning our LX models goes on and on. I am not ever going to be smart enough to know how to get this done, and my CompCams install is mild by all comparisons. Almost unnoticeable in most cases I think.

My setup regarding the tune for the camshaft is subtle by all accounts, my fuel consumption is massive and the power is there when desired.

What I do not yet have is the sound profile I really was seeking, especially after going to lt headers and high flow cats.

Ported blower, 1050 injectors, 3.10 Metco upper, ATI lower, Fore dual fuel pumps, JLT intake, SW lt headers, Carven X pipe, Vibrant 1794 mids, no AES valves, stock resonators, Carven polished tips

Do you know what overlap is? 10° is minimal. Pretty sure all production engines since the model T flat head came with way more than 10° ground into stock cam
