Hi everyone, I read some posts from years past that its possible to track the train via the rail car your hellcat is shipped on. I have contacted my dealer who advised they dont know when my charger will arrive, only that it has been released by the plant and is currently being shipped.

If anyone can help me get the rail car number and figure out how i can track the train, it would greatly be appreciated.

In over a decade, that's the first I've heard of that being a thing. Not saying it's not possible or never was, but things historically have been very opaque to end consumers. I'm sure someone at Stelantis could locate a bill of lading and could contact a carrier responsible for transshipment and that carrier could determine which train car your car is on, and where in the train system it's physically at, and what its expected path (which might be through several sub-carriers) is for an ETA.

But... anyone actually doing all that paperwork? Seems highly unlikely at best. It's just too many layers of of work that is easily replaced by "you'll get your car when you get it."

We should be able to track by rail. I've done with a couple of Fords in the past. Ford would put the rail number right on the window sticker. It was easy to figure out. With FCA, looks like you need an insider to give you the rail tracking number. Then you can call the rail company with that number for an automated update. You can also track the car carrier, thats much harder. Bottomline is there is GPS tracking for every inch of travel. FCA knows where their inventory is at all times. The last one I tracked to that level was my 2015 F150. I knew it was at the dealer before they did.

This time around, I have a Super Stock on order. I'm gonna sit back and wait.

In the beginning we could find out the rail car that our Hellcats were on and or what ship yard they would be sitting in.
A lot of the information we could get is no longer available. I think information that was given on this forum, caused too many customers calling Dodge all the time with the same questions?
I know My Hellcat is here can I pick it up from the ship yard or when will it be shipping to my dealer.
And sometimes a customer new more than the dealer, which would really tick the dealer off.

Linda :)

If a Hellcat leaves the origin on a train doing 50 mph and travels southwest for 7 hours, and then a drone leaves home-base at 12 noon and travels north at 15 mph, at what point will an anxious new owner be able to track and identify the specific rail car after they intersect?

The worst is that the rail trip is the shortest part. Heck, for me, it went by ship to Florida for a couple weeks. Then it sat in Tampa for a week then went by rail to Jacksonville. Jax is only an hour and a half from my house, but the car sat in the freight yard awaiting a transporter for 3 weeks. That was torture.

I didn't hound the dealership. They called me and told me the car was in Jax and it should "be here in a day or two." Wrong-o.

I never understood why people like you take time out of your day to respond to a post in which you deem to be "not worth it" If i or anyone else wants to attempt to track a car that I am paying for, then thats what i want to do. If youre not providing a solution to the question, no point in posting on the thread
