Just curious
I have a totally bone stock 2016 hellcat

can i occasionally mix some e-85 in there with the 93 octane that i normally run ?

the car is totally bone stock
7,000 miles on it

I have a station close to me that has e-85 at the pumps

you will be losing efficiency.. so I doubt you are getting ahead..
its debatable
e-85 gets really cheap at the gas station by me

compared to 87 octane when 87 was cheap last year it wasnt much of a savings

compared to what 93 is right now by me its a tremendous savings

but if its no good for the hellcat
i wont run it

thanks for everyones replies

E85 requires appr. 30% more fuel at all engine load/speeds. You cannot mix E85 and 93 unless your car is modded on flex fuel tuning. If you go to the track with your stock HC (especilly 2015 sine they had slighlty more timing), run some Boostane or VMP Octanium (usually available at Oreilly Auto Parts). These are two legitmite Octane boosters for 93, it's ok to run them occaionally but not daily as any legit octane boosters contain nmt which if used all the time can cause excessive deposits on your plugs, o2 sensors, and cats.

Answer is simply NO, okay?

Why would you put 93 octane in a flex-fuel Tahoe. I sure hope the Tahoe is flex-fuel from the factory right??

Believe the owners manual for the 2016 Hellcat states what percentage of ethanol you can run in the car. My 2018/2020 Challenger owners manuals limit the ethanol content to 15%. Would expect the 2016 has the same restriction.

Given how E85 ethanol content can vary from between 51% to 83% ethanol unless you have a chemistry set with you when you fill up pretty sure you'll exceed that 15% limit on ethanol.

My advice is just use 93 and consider yourself lucky. Or you can drop down to 91 provided of course it is available in your area and the engine does not object. It shouldn't as 91 is the recommended grade of octane for the engine. But try 91 and if the engine doesn't like it as least you know and can go back to 93.

Since alcohol is an oxygenated fuel, won't the engine computer read it as running lean and dump more fuel in?
PS I hate post-cat sensors because I'd really like to introduce some extra air via venturi tube in front of the cats to make the exhaust cleaner since it would cost nothing.

Who knows? Since one is using a blend of gasoline/ethanol that is not recommended by the auto maker/not supported by the auto maker all bets are off.

Without engine mods which required a higher octane I'd never run anything above the supported level of ethanol and then only with a tune that could account for the differences in ethanol content from the E85 pump.

Interested in this as well.

It’s popular with the ecoboost f150, I do it on mine. Mix 93 and e85 for e50, you can definitely feel it in the seat of the pants. E50 is the max tuners will recommend as that’s the limit of the fuel system stock. Possible on a hellcat?

The answer is actually yes.

Mix E99 or E85, with your 93 octane, up to about E15. If you read the trims, the computer will compensate as these cars are equipped with a factory wideband.

Mixing your E85 with pump up to E15 will boost the knock resistance of your gas by a noticeable margin. Some local guys did some serious testing of this up here in Vancouver. The cars pull less timing and as a result you don't get a decrease in power that most garbage pump gas gives you.

I run E15 on my Hellcat Redeye with Zero issues- I mix E99 with pure 94 (no ethanol) pump.

I also run E30 on my JB4 Ecoboost 3.5L Tremor.

Anyone who says otherwise, hasn't done the data logging and looked at the trims or the timing. You CAN run E15 Safely. My suggestion is find pump 93 without ethanol or even pump 91 without ethanol and mix it. Most Pump 93 that has ethanol is usually 5-7% ethanol (7% in the summer and lower than 5% in the winter)... So factor that into your calculations.

The car has trims built into the stock tune for a reason....it WILL compensate by adding fuel. E15 is fine.
