Hey Gang...

I joined this site the same week that I placed an order and put a deposit down on my Hellcat -- pearl tri-coat, black satin hood and 8 speed auto. For about six weeks I've patiently waited for a VON. I didn't fault the dealer when I learned that the automatic was in short supply, and the satin hood wasn't available yet. But today I called again and was told that Dodge is not going to pick up orders from the dealership. They will have an allotment of one car and that's it.

So now I've wasted six whole weeks thinking that my order was somehow in the queue. The dealership told me I could pick up my deposit and order sheet and see if I had better luck somewhere else. This seems totally bogus. I've ot $65,000 to give Dodge if they want it. Seems stupid to ignore legitimate orders from the people who want the cars most.

Does anyone actually know if you can order a car or if you have to buy off the showroom floor? I thought they wanted to avoid cars on dealer lots. Any accurate information on whether I can order a car -- I don't mind waiting so long as I know i will get a VON and eventually a VIN.

You need to find a dealership that has earned an allocation. It sounds like there are a few cars that did not get picked up from original buyers so if you can jump on a plane you may be able to get one of them, however
you will have to settle for what ever they have.

My dealer only had 2 and I got one and they sold the other car to a guy in Florida. Dealer told me once they deliver my car and the other they could place an order for #3.

It also sounds like there are many dealers just looking to get the buyers off the market and will take your cash so beware.

Good luck on your search! from another '70 Cuda guy!

Just like 70Cuda said, if your dealer doesnt have an allocation, he can't get it even if you pay 100k for it.

Some dealers are more clueless than others when it comes to knowing if they have an allocation or not. One of the dealers didn't know, tried to enter an order in yhe the system and it worked, so he had that allocation

This late in the game it's going to be tough, there is a car on ebay just about what you wanted , I would call and make an offer, No it won't be MSRP, but maybe you can get it for 5K over , if not you will have to do some looking and possibly 6 months down the road something will open up.

It amounts to fraud what some dealers are doing down there then. A deposit on an order they already know they can't get goes beyond shady business practices IMO. Hope a really good lawyer gets screwed over like this.

It seems the dealers are not understanding how production of the hellcats is going to play out - most are not placing orders without a current allocation - which seems like a big mistake on their part. Generally, what they should be doing is placing as many sold orders as they can get, with or without an allocation.. orders without an allocation will sit - but at least they are in the system, and dodge can see the demand and plan for production.

ResumeSpeed indicated Dodge can build at least 10,000 additional hellcats in 2015... given that ~5000 have been ordered as of Nov 1, we assume that any current orders will be filled in 2015.

At some point, when this production catches up with the allocation numbers, Dodge may add third and fourth rounds of allocations...but at some point they may switch to just building based on order date (oldest orders first) - depending on options/production timing, etc.

Thus, it makes sense to get your order in now somehow... so that your order date is preserved, as this may have relevance down the road as to when your car gets built. Thus:

1) Convince a large SRT dealer likely to get future allocations to place your order now regardless of whether they have a current allocation - tell them you are ok if it just sits there for a while. - Show them ResumeSpeed's email indicating 2015 hellcat production if needed. You may need to talk to the big boss to make this happen.
2) If you can't pull off #1, then find any dealer who can place your order now. - Don't worry about whether your favorite options are available... Just get an order in the system - options can be changed/deleted/added until you get a VIN, which at this point will be months away - By then, option availability should be better.

Not sure how the system really works but the manager told me it won't let him enter it if he doesn't have an allocation. Not just a matter of enter it anf we'll see when it shows up

ok, well, Bob Frederick has entered dozens of orders without allocations and tells us we have VONs (Vehicle Order Numbers). I assume they are all using the same system.

I had the same BS happen to me got mad went and talked to the dealer. They told me that I could get my deposit back but they were going to keep the order in yet.
Long story short I now have two cars ordered with deposits down .the new dealer gave me a Von within 24 hours
Both dealers told me they would give back the deposit if the other car came in first .

The first dealer I went to had no allocations but hid that fact from me for the better part of 8 hours. The whole time trying to sell me on a Scat Pack. Pretty shady they hid that fact from me. I came back to that dealer the next day driving my Hellcat and had words with the GM.

The question forum members would want to know is do you have a current allocation, and how many HC's have you sold, which means a much better chance of you receiving future allocations in the months ahead (Feb, Mar, etc.).
