Canceled the Challenger and Going for Charger

4377 39
After much thought, decided to cancel my order for the Challenger. I have decided
to go for the Charger instead. I was third on the list, first person just received his VIN
and it will be built sometime in November. The second person and I have only a VON
with no VIN. Figuring over 12,000 or more orders, heard as many as 20,000 orders so far,
and only 2000 to 4000 estimated Challengers being built, 2300 dealers,
that amounts to one or two, possibly three per dealer.
Some big dealers might get four. The rest will have to wait until next year.
No wonder some dealers are marking these up anywhere between
$5000 to $20,000 and up, but that is covered in other threads here on
the forum.

I was not willing to gamble, decided to be first on the list for the Charger.
I am hearing November 10 to open the orders, but who knows with
Dodge. Others say January, by then the Hellcat series should really get
going.

For the folks that have an order for their Challenger, I wish the best of
luck with their order and I hope I am wrong about the numbers above.

I like both models, just trying to put the odds in my favor and better
chance for a Hellcat, only problem with the Charger, is it has two extra doors.

Am I crazy, or has others thought about this approach.

I don't blame you T. What color and options are you going with? The Charger is an awesome car too, you can't go wrong with either choice.

I am going with Solid White with Black Laguna, Brass Monkey,
Summer Tires, Nav, Upgraded Stereo System.
Still plenty of time to change order before they open up
orders.

That is going to be sweet!! I was surprised to see the Harmon Kardon was not standard on the Charger. I am really excited for you and glad you are still going to be able to get a Hellcat! Congrats!

I think it is cool to have a 4 door beating up on 2 door
sports cars. This ought to be fun.

The under cover Dodge Cat guy making a bust. LOL
Oh yeah, it is definitely fun! My little Charger doesn't know the meaning of sedan. He is full sports car at heart and I drive it like I stole it, on occasion!:D

The only problem I have on top end at 204 mph (dyno), if any air burst
underneath the car it would have the possibility to go airborne.
That would not be cool. If I were to open it up, it would have to be
on a high bank oval such as Texas World Speedway or
Daytona in a controlled eviroment with emergency crew there.

I think it will stay under 180 mph for safety reasons.

For what it's worth I just read this.
According to Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, over 5,000 of the Challenger #Hellcat have been ordered. We're excited to see them around town but not as excited as the owners who will drive them.

I think the speedo tops out at 202, but I read somewhere it will break 222 all day long. The aerodynamics become a problem and not the HP. Will try to find that.
Yes I believe it was K&N that did a dyno above 707HP and top speed beyond 220mph I could be wrong

Where are you guys getting options and pricing info? I can't find it on Dodge or SRT site?
