car seats (for kids)

So I have a car seat in the back for my 7 year old son. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for how to protect the leather from the car seat. I've been googling and I'm kind of leaning towards this thing or something similar: Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black Rear Facing Child Safety Car Seats Baby

Perhaps go to a craft store and get some of that foam padding that comes in sheets? You could get some fabric and cover them, even have cut out holes for the seat belts to be clipped into place. Could even scotch guard the fabric covering to further protect against spills and to keep the fabric cleaner for longer. Lay the pad over the seat, then buckle the car seat in place. The thickness of the foam should help protect against the seats leaving indented marks in the leather. Just a thought.
