In the pic is a billet tech. Not sure if its just burn marks but is it anything I should be worried about? There is also paint all over the inside.
Tableware Liquid Drinkware Fluid Ingredient

Ordered it forever ago and then moved so i just found the box in our mountain of stuff so probably outside any warranty or chance to exchange it im guessing. Literally just opened the package - never installed

Throw it in the solvent tank clean it and blow it off with compressed air

If you don’t have those go get a can of brake clean
DO NOT do this (SMH!!!)

doing so will remove the external coating.

Personally though, I wouldn't worry about as the fluid (oil) only goes one way.

What are you talking about? I have been cleaning painted and powder coated parts in my safty kleen for decades. The solvent these days is nothing like it used to be but even the old stuff didn’t eat paint

Brake clean is definitely nastier. Doesn’t mean that if I was at the track track and needed that can cleaned out I wouldn’t invert it and spray it (the inside)

OP - sure, listen to this guy. I am sure that after you follow his method of submerging your whole can into a solvent, and blowing off with compressed air, that if the paint/powder coating gets damaged, I am sure SickToo will back up his words by reimbursing you.
(Pretty sure he'll be right in to confirm he'll back up his words with $$ and will even IM you with his contact address and promise - you know, just in case.)

OR, you can just clean the inside as noted and not worry if SickToo will back up his word with a financial guarantee. ;)

Don forget to shake it a couple times before you stick in it

I did not buy a can for mine yet. Thinking about building something taller than what is offered? Something with at least 4 screens spaced above the inlet. Hopefully help get more of the oil vapor out of the air before it leaves thru the top and enters the intake

🤔

So, did you you ever ever provide written and traceable documentation to the OP stating you would reimburse him/her financially if/when your recommendation to submerse the catch can in a tank of solvent damaged the exterior his can or, are you conveniently forgetting to back up your extensively vast knowledge of chemical reactions for some obscure reason?

asking for historical reasons.

I find it odd that you posted this and didn't just clean it out to begin with, not helping sitting in a box. Spend the five minutes and get the job done. (y)

It almost looks like sand blasting media from prep for the coating.

I agree, WD40 is the ticket.

SickToo was just trying to help, everyone needs to relax and just appreciate any advice offered.

omg, don't put this CC in a parts washer. I have used/owned them, please trust me and also the inside is just COLLECTING OILY VAPOR so who effing cares?? Good looooorrrrrddddd.
painted or otherwise finished parts inti a solvent tank - never good advice to follow, unless the plan is to refinish that is.

Constructive posts guys.....
Opinions are opinions, but if you are looking for drama, go down to your local bar and find it, not here.
I researched it and not much (chemical wise) is going to hurt the anodized finish, as long as you don't scrub it with something abrasive.
