If you take your time, and pull slowly, you can just pull it off without causing damage to the molded in clip holders. Granted, this was when I lived in south Florida and it was probably soft plastic from the heat anyway. I attempted to do it with trim panel tools, but got too impatient and just pulled it off both sides and managed to not destroy it, or actually break any of the clips. I did buy new clips though figuring I would break them.
