I ordered a Charger Hellcat on Feb.12, have a Von number of # of 33386927 and put down a $10000.00 deposit. Does this mean it will be built in the next few weeks or months????

If you ordered 2/12 and are still in VON, my guess is that your dealer doesn't have an allocation and you're not getting your car for a while...

I ordered my Charger on February 2nd and I have a tentative build date the week of 5-18 with delivery likely in June. I got my VIN earlier this month so if you don't have a VIN yet...you may be looking at a 2016...which may not be a bad thing after all. Longer wait but they may fix a few little things here and there.

$10k deposit..... go ask for $9k back ;) that way at least you have more liquid cash in your pocket instead of theirs for God knows how long until the car comes in. There is zero reason for a deposit that high, ESPECIALLY for a car that would be a piece of cake to sell should you not take it.

I really wonder WTF these dealers do to come up with these rules/ideas. Absolutely no deposit is even needed to order the car. Basically, your deposit is how much operating cash they want you to give them up front. Or, you can look at it as them taking there profit up front.

They didn't even ask for a deposit. I figured it would let them know I was a serious buyer, and It may help me get it sooner. Plus, I thought it would only take about two months to get the car, so another check due shortly.

The "serious buyer" thing is bullshit. Why does $10k make you a more serious buyer than $1k? Reason, because they're glad you are giving them more interest free money up front.

With the current circus, I'll say people with no VIN now are looking at half a year until they have a car.

My dealer did offer $9000 back, but I figured the car woulD be here in about two months, so I would give up the $.07/month I earn in interest. Not like the days of 6 to 8 percent. Sorry for me being so stupid. It could be worse. Hard Rock Casino is near me, but I never go there. Thanks to all who gave me IMO.

Our order was put in on January 12th and the car is still not built. If you search through the sight, you will see there is no rhyme or reason to which cars get built when. The was supposed to be an allocation process but that has changed several times and even then, it doesn't seem the rules for the allocation were followed. Your deposit is with your dealer not FCA so a bigger deposit does not get the car built any faster. At one time, FCA was requesting letters from people as why they should get their hellcat, we don't know what that was all about and even if it was legit. So pretty much, unless you are a celebrity, athlete, etc. post your VON in the "Hellcat VON" thread and RS will check it periodically and hope for a VIN soon.

PS. I would say if you don't get a VIN by the end of May, you may be looking at a year 2016 build.

I agree

They do not need any more money. It will not help you get your car in the least.

I am a firm believer in never buying the first year vehicle. This is why I am waiting for the 2016/17 model year in buying my hellcat Charger. I hope suggestions to Dodge are pouring in to add new colors, a carbon fiber package, black hood option and a safety option package. If 2017 is the re design year I just may wait since a new design may have a lighter smaller package. Good luck in getting your car built.

I have thought the same thing. I by no means have to be the first one with the car in my town but I have waited for quite some time to get something and have waited long enough. That's just my personal opinion. They're always going to make something better. Question is whether you want to keep waiting for perfection or just pull the trigger and enjoy what you've got.
