Any information available on how to disassemble the rear view mirror on the Charger Hellcat? I am trying to access power from the mirror for a radar detector. I wiggled and pulled on it to no avail! Please help!!

The mirror itself is held together with clips and takes some serious prying to get the first clip then they come pretty easy.

I have disassembled pics if that's any help.

I don't have as many as I thought, here's one showing where it "clips" on. This gives an idea of how far "under" the housing you have to go in order to pry it off.

I would recommend prying on the top passenger side since you will likely leave some tiny marks and they won't be visible if you start in that corner. Once you get the first clip the rest are really easy. I had to put enough pressure with a small flat screwdriver that I thought breaking it was a strong possibility.

Installing a display behind the mirror?

I am actually only trying to disassemble the trim around the mirror attachment to the window (not the mirror itself) so that I can access the power and ground that feed into the back of the actual mirror in order to power a radar detector.

Ahh, thought you might be putting radar display inside the mirror.

Removing mirror shroud is easier, just apply pressure and pull. You can remove the mirror itself by twisting the base.

Power can also be had by pulling down the overhead light unit which is held by four clips - carefully - mine had sharp edges.

I personally would run a cable from the fuse box and up the pillar with a fuse tap from the switched accessory power. I'd suggest a kill switch too so you don't have to reach for detector to turn it off.

TELEMATICS MIRROR

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  2. Using a small flat bladed tool, release the clips (2) on each side of the upper mirror trim (1) and rotate the upper mirror trim downward to remove.

  3. Using a small flat bladed tool, release the tabs (2) and lower the lower mirror trim and remove.

  4. The lower mirror trim (2) is shown removed, pry both tabs (1) outward to release.

  5. Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the mirror.

  6. Grasp the mirror (1) by the base and rotate it clockwise approximately 90 degrees and remove.

at mirror 10 way connector, you should find switched 12V at cavity 5 (F924 circuit, pink/yellow 20 guage wire) and ground at cavity 4 (Z910 circuit, black 20 guage wire).

The trim behind the mirror/around the mirror stalk on the Charger is different from the pictures above. I can't get this thing off for the life of me!

Where do I need to aplly pressure and which direction do I pull? It seems to be 2 pieces of trim but I can't get them apart or either off.

Good luck pulling this off...although these instructions are good..the application of this makes me feel like I am going to destroy the plastic. .. It states "Using a small flat bladed tool, release the tabs (2) and lower the lower mirror trim and remove." Try sticking a flat blade in there without knowing exactly where and it feels like your crack the plastic.....

I had my windshield replaced by Safelite after i had a rock chip in it which turned into an 8" long crack to the edge of the windshield after having to brake hard when a douchebag pulled out right in front of me. When the tech took the mirror off my car, the wiring inside was visible and all he did was twist the mirror off.. there's a metal housing that sits on the bolt that's pre glued to the windshield. he says the tech guys found this was a good way to do it. rotate the whole housing and it will come off.
