Hey there. Looking for a little input fellas. So I just threw a code and looked it up quick and it says an O2 sensor is the likely culprit. Here’s a couple variables I’m thinking of and wanna hear if you think they might play a part in this…

I had just left the wand wash 20 minutes before and was driving super calm the entire 20min. While in the wand wash I gave the exhaust tip openings a pretty good shot to try and remove a little grime I had been wiping by hand. Never even thought there would probably be sensors up there, secondly as I went over in another post, the previous owner installed a K&N leaving the cone style air filter exposed to anything that wants to come through the mesh/hole in the hood, in this case a bunch of water/soap, I imagine it had the potential to get quite wet even though it was recently oiled well,
Maybe it all needs to dry out?
Other than that only thing I can think of is me running that 94 fuel all the time cause it’s the only ethanol free fuel we got. Maybe that And the easy driving ran rich? I dunno just ideas? Maybe it. 12,000km on car, stock exhaust. K&N intake..
Oh ya also..it’s strange, maybe it’s the car alarm or something but the headlights and taillights come on when im washing the car outta no where. Key in my pocket…. Lol fun night atleast the car looks great! Cheers everyone

The lights thing is cuz the sensors in the door sense a change in resistance from the water and it thinks you want in.

My 2015 SRT 392 and my 2020 Redeye widebody both doo the same thing....so to avoid any potential accidents I just leave the fob in the house/garage and it seems to work.

Running 94 that is ethanol free will cause zero problems with the car. Our 94 with ethanol is a different story. As stated above leave the keys somewhere else and the lights won't keep coming on while washing.
At least it's not a Ram. Standing on the running board washing the roof and grab the handle to support yourself, the sound of the doors unlocking or worse opening.😳🤣

thanks! Any idea about that code? How to clear it, which o2 sensor it’s talking about? Gonna try it out tonight hopefully it’s cleared. I got a feeling I just got water down the exhaust or on the filter.. it got a pretty good bath

It is bank 2 sensor 1 , so pass side first one before the cats.
You could clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does check the connector.
To clear the codes you can do it a ODB blue tooth dongle and an app. Or take it on somewhere and get the code cleared.
If it keeps coming back you will need to replace the O2 sensor.

Hey there, I just went and bought a $50 scan tool and cleared it. The air/fuel mixture gauge came back to life and the CEL light stayed off for my 2 hour trip around town. Hopefully it was a one time thing.
If not hopefully I can keep clearing it quick every so often until I have time to get it to the shop…I mean, If the gauge comes back when I clear the code and the numbers are what they should be, then that should mean that the sensor is working and doing it’s job and the car isn’t taking any damage or running rich or anything.. I would think? Haha and thanks again for letting me know about the lights at the car wash that was freaking me out for a while now… didn’t even wanna open that can of electrical worms up until winter haha I thought I had something shorting out from water and was dreading it

Glad to hear it was something simple.
Now you have a handy little new tool so if you get a check engine light on anything you will save the $40-$150 some shops charge to scan.👍
I got a little concerned on my first ram when the lights flashed while washing. Then when I went to clean the roof I figured out what was going on. So when it happened with the car I wasn't concerned.🤣
