I tried to use the automatic start with the new valet security feature. This will cause a code to come up.

Is there a way I can clear the code at home to save me a trip to the dealership?
Sounds like something went wrong with the upgrade. I've heard mixed stories on the so called fix. Some say it's been recalled due to problems and some say it's still being applied. I'm going to hold on this one for awhile.

The problem is with the original update that I have but I want to keep. It puts the car into a very low RPM mode. If you use the automatic start while the valet mode is on you get the code on ignition. I already had it cleared once but made the mistake again.

I just need to clear the code.

The code might clear on its own but it may take a few warm up cycles.

However the code is probably not OBD2 related but a proprietary code. A OBD2 scan tool with enhancements to support accessing other controllers in the car beside engine (and maybe) transmission controllers is probably needed.

There is the possibility even an off the shelf OBD2 (enhanced) scan tool won't work. Thus the car would have to be taken to a dealer so the tech can use the Dodge factory diagnositic computer to clear the code.

Get a Bluetooth code reader that works with your phone. They've come down in price a lot and you can plug it in and clear most codes.

Like Slidd said, get yourself a code reader. I had to get one for my code also, I spent about 60 bucks at Autozone and clear the code whenever it shows up. Also, if you put the car in RUN, not start, and type in your pin to deactivate the valet mode, and then start your car, you won't get the code anymore.

I have found that a lot of features on my code reader were not there. When I installed a security gateway bypass it worked a lot better. 2018 and newer. Also in a pinch it might help if you actually dump the capacitors by touching both cables together after removing them from the battery. But I would reset with a code reader first if I could.

If I do that start process it will eliminate future codes if I make the mistake of using the remote start with the valet function on?
