2018 challenger wide body with 21k miles. Bought it a few weeks ago. Car would reach 230 then the fan would bring it down and it would repeat this over and over again. Even at idle. Pulled the thermostat and it was broken in half. New 180 thermostat and the hottest I can get it now is 195. Hope this helps someone. The broken thermostat was oem.

I did not think you could either.
But if his was wide open since it was broken, it didn't throw a code or CEL....
I would assume no light but possibly it could affect performance.

Had the same issues on my 2019 redeye. I installed the 180 and I found the 203 broken just like the pic the OP posted. my temps would run up to ~220 and come back down with the fan running and cycle like that at slower speeds. My test ride had the temp at 185 with no code(s)

So I’m about to install a 180 thermostat, would I need to change some setting on the fan? Or can I just install and be good to go?

Ah okay, but would I be okay installing it before getting tune and running it like that? Or should I have the tuner install it the day of tuning?

You can but you may get a CEL because you are not reaching the set temp the pcm is looking for.

A scat is definitely making less heat than a HC.
It may effect the CEL when it is cold more than when it is hot.
