Found a low mileage (under 2k), 1 owner 2015 HC Challenger for sale by a dealer. It's 11 hours away from me. Only thing suspicious is Carfax lists it as a corporate vehicle.

What does that mean? Should I be concerned?

What kind of corporation would hold a HC for 7 years and only put 2k miles on it?

Thank you in advance :)

PS - I don't trust dealers (at all)

Dodge? Check it out and if the price is right and it talks to you, go for it. You know what to look for. Ask for service records and see if they volunteer anything else.

Post the carfax like others have said, corporate or commercial? Commercial can mean an llc or corporation bought the car.... could be many different reasons.

Corporate like the pic below usually means it was a fca/stellantis vehicle, could mean anything from a track demo to an executive demo. You have to read the records and see how it was serviced.

Or a buy back.

Buyback would be listed as “manufacturer buyback“ on the report. Corporate is most likely a car that was used by an exec at the former FCA. Wouldnt concern me all that much. I would ask the dealer to clarify and then do a little fact checking just for curiosity’s sake.

Maybe an "office people" car that sat a lot. Like the ones they drive at dealerships, but sell a year/two later with low miles? My concern is warranty issues? Does it come with any?

I wouldn't let the "Corporate" vehicle thing scare me off the car. Just an assumption, but it sounds like what is also called a "Program Car" at other manufacturers. These are cars (or trucks) that are driven for a while by manufacturer executives and the like. They might also be offered to let the media do test drives etc... Before they are put up for sale, they are normally inspected very closely by Dodge prior to releasing for general sale.

- I had bought a Thunderbird back in the day that was a new model but it had around 2K on the clock. It was a Program car that a Ford executive supposedly drove. I had a full warranty on mine, but since the one you're looking at is a '15 its most likely being sold as is with no warranty.....

EDIT: - And as you said....I'd only be concerned about where the car has been and how long it has most likely sat around not started or driven.

I have bought vehicles under my businesses and carfax 100% showed them as corporate

This should not be a buyback unless a mistake was made with the reporting

Wether it was a dodge owned vehicle for testing or executive is hard to speculate on. Crazy the miles are that low but if it’s a good deal and the car checks out I don’t see a reason to stay away from it

Not likely. Even dealership demonstrators that are driven by managers or employees have their warranty in-service date started on the date they are placed in this service.

I would like to see those carfaxes, I have bought/leased over a dozen cars and they all showed commercial on the carfax.

It's possible different states report differently but corporate usually means it's a manufacturers vehicle.

I’m sure there are many factors at play here. Wether it’s how your company is setup, if one company owns the car and “leases” to another company (which is how I do it for many reasons) and also by state. Not too mention, we all know carfax is full of flaws. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter wether this thing was a dodge owned vehicle or private business use. It’s just a word on a report lol

Yeah that makes sense, It might depend on how big the corporation is as well, and like you said different corporations leasing to other corporations could be the trigger for carfax.

Yeah I think history or lack thereof might be the biggest issue, corporate is a word and for all we know a 75 year old could hoon it like a 25 year old could. Who knows, OP I would definitely ask for some details into the history.

From my understanding and knowledge, carfax only gets what's reported to them, so while this car could have been serviced every 6 months if it wasn’t reported then it won't show up.
