what's up all,

I live in a freezing city and I used hot water to melt the ice on my windshield during the early morning. My windshield cracked. I drove my car in hopes to make it to work and it just made things worse. It basically fell apart. I hope my mistake will help anyone faced with the same dilemma.

Back on topic, Does anyone know if this is covered by Mopar warranty?

Unfortunately hot water on frozen windshields is a very bad idea. The extreme temperature change can cause cracking and can even shatter the glass. Not going to be covered under warranty. Maybe your insurance would cover it. Good luck.

Ur kidding. Hot water on frozen glass?
You get today’s C’mon Man.
Warranty? On glass? That you yourself broke?
You get tomorrow’s C’mon Man. That’s a record lol.
Some things are indeed our own fault in life and every once in a great while we have to take responsibility for our actions. This is one of those very rare times.

And people wonder why companies have to put those ridiculous warnings on their products. It's for these people. And then they double down by offering "helpful" advice, like "Hey guys, just wanted to warn you not to stick your hand into a meat grinder. Hope this helps anyone who was thinking about doing that". And to the OP, yes, it's definitely covered by the warranty. Get it down to your dealer today.

In all seriousness this is what the remote start is for. Start the car for 10 min and let the defroster do its job……
Well, that's what a friend of mine did with his Ram pickup. It was shortly followed by snow sliding off the roof and...yup, a cracked windshield.

How would they know? Just tell them a rock hit it… should be covered under comprehensive, hence no rate hike. They don’t send an adjuster out to check it.

Guessing you guys have never heard of heated windshield wiper fluid. I know the Germans loved this on their cars. There's a difference between pouring a lot of boiling water, and using a reasonable amount of hot water to loosen the ice.

Hey, that's an excellent idea. A little insurance fraud never hurt anything. And we'd all get the opportunity to help pay our fair share - if using the same insurance company anyway.

Two wrongs must be better than just one.

Oooor just man up and take responsibility for doing something stupid instead of the American way of passing the buck.

sorry I upset you Jimmy. Maybe I should’ve known you owned an insurance company before I posted. Or had no idea you were the insurance police. I’ll let you know when I make a claim so you can report me🤣 at 700.00 a month with a squeaky clean record you better believe I’m making that claim all day. I’m proud to be sad.

Let's use the same logic when it comes to the vehicle itself.

Surely Stellantis makes hundreds of millions on selling them to us, and I have paid a few hundred thousand to them over the past 10 years. Am I now entitled to a free car every now and then?

To remain profitable, all they need to do is raise the price a little on the other ones.
