What happened? Just curious. I'm also the same way with ANY collision work.
The leather on the side of the driver's seat in my 21 Denali creases every time anyone sits in it, so it got a hole where the crease makes a corner in less than a year, I think the odometer read 8,500. GM told the dealer to replace the leather under warranty. They damaged the rear door panel when they were removing the seat (looks like they bumped into the wood trim with the seat rails), they put the seat back together very poorly so now the leather is very loose it creases and folds underneath me (very uncomfortable and looks like crap), and they didn't tighten the seat to the floor properly so after 3 days it was loose and rattling (fixed that myself). They refused to repair the door panel that they damaged and said there is nothing wrong with how they installed the new leather. The new leather has now creased and torn itself in the same spot.
I thought maybe the initial problem with the leather was my fault, but I've pointed out the same seat damage in 5 other Denali and High Country trucks that I've never sat in, all very new trucks as well. I also took the service manager to a brand new truck with 4 miles on the odometer on their lot and pointed out how the leather was folding in the same place when he sat in it instead of me. I know I didn't cause the problem, and I know the problem isn't the dealers fault (I think it's the design of the seats in those trucks), but they did further damage to my truck trying to fix it, and refused to own up to it.
I'll only go to dealer service departments for recalls that are actually safety issues from now on. Nothing else ever again.
