I am waiting for road side to get me, I dont know what could have happened, driving normally to work, when all this oil smoke started gushing out. Lots of oil lost, shut down right away anyone know what could have happened?

Mine has a trans cooler line pop off shortly after delivery. Right around 1200 miles. Big mess also. Lots of oil and trans lines have been popping off the fittings due to improper install at the factory. Mind boggling how such a basic thing gets overlooked. Hopefully that’s all it is.

Stating the obvious, but, plugs on the cooler and pan tight? No double gasket on the filter? (Another reason I do it all myself.)

Did you go underneath for a look? Have you been checking your oil every couple days after a change? This is not something you want to wait and ask us about.

What year is your Hellcat?

Linda :)
2018 , funny thing is it wasn't on a recall list for the oil cooler lines, but yet it was built September 2017, so I'm thinking it should have been part of the recall. I will find out later tomorrow what happened. If it is the oil cooler lines, im sure my power train warranty will cover it.

That is why I asked you what year. It sure sounds like that could be the problem.

Would that have been part of a recall?

Linda :)
That was my question to the svc dept. They told me no recalls of that nature on mine, but here is my thoughts, yes it is a 2018 that was built Sept 2017. Could it have had the recall part in it ,but not included in the recall? The hose should not have failed if it was the revised one ,right?

Anyone who may know,

On the 2017; hose failed or the connection failed? Was it a bad batch of hose specific to a manfacturing lot or some other change? Ideas to which hose or combination to replace if the cars out of warranty?

Nice website on HC engine for reference with diagram. Probably can be found posted elsewhere on HCO.

I’m gonna go with slows guess but yeah for the ones popping out after delivery is definitely due to no “c” clip being put in one of the lines at the cooler

Yes everything is good, I just hoped they would have tried to clean the oil up from under it. I still gave them 10s and all yeses because they are always good to me there, plus my next HC oil change is free ;)
