I’m wanting to add a dash cam to the kitty. I’ve been reading and looking and a lot of the articles I’ve read seem to have their preference on whoever paid them the most. So I was hoping to get some unbiased opinions here. Currently I’m leaning most towards the Thinkware U1000 cam. Has anyone used this? What do you use? Below is a link to the one I’m looking at.

I bought the Blackvue DR900X plus and have no complaints. I didn’t do a ton of research so I won’t claim it’s the best system but it fit my needs perfectly and it’s nice to pull video from it using my phone whenever I need/want to.

We have these in all our cars. Inexpensive and they work great.

My son and I witnessed a T-bone crash that occurred in front of us recently. We stopped to help and then downloaded the video for both parties. The guy who ran the red light swore up and down it was green...until we showed him the video. He was amazed and immediately started apologizing to the lady he was yelling at five seconds before. Luckily everyone was OK. It was during a snow storm and all the traffic lights in the direction he was traveling had filled up with snow except for the turn lane light which appeared green to him. He never saw the other red lights through the snow blockage. Can you imagine trying to prove any of this to your insurance company or the police? Sure made me a believer in cameras! I ordered one for the Hellcat the next day. (and the car hadn't even been built yet!)

I went with the "premium" option of NextBase. Works very well, I have the main camera tucked on the passenger side of the rear view mirror and the rear camera almost dead center. NextBase has the "parking mode" that is supposed to detect movement and any "shock" to your car. They get you with their proprietary SD cards - I have attempted using the same specification card (from other vendors) and run into problems...
