Does anyone have a good recommendation for dash cam for our cars? I currently have a Uniden R1 on a Blendmount attached to my mirror, and I want to try and keep all of those items within the same area. I see a whole lot of them online for sale with front and back facing cameras but I don't think I will be using the rear facing, just the front one for insurance coverage. Whatever I get for the Cat will also be bought for my truck.

I'd love to hear what you guys run!

i run the escort M1 no extra wiring needed and blendmount sells a kit (extended screw) to mount. it's super easy. is 1080p but does not have GPS built in (not sure that matters)

GPS is not needed, I will look into it. Will I need to double up the blendmounts basically or does it have a spot for both radar and the cam?

Edit: Just now seeing that it pairs with the Escort radar, I wonder if it will work with my Uniden?

Vantrue N2 Pro. I've used one for many years while UBERing.
Worth the price? Most I see are $50 but I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for, I will gladly shell out the coin if its cost effective.

Take a look on rdforum. We have a lot of radar and dash cam nerds there haha.

I think my recommendation is the viofo a129 pro.
It is 4k (or 60fps 1440 if you want smoothness). Uses the same sensor as the twice as expensive blackvue but has better image quality. Also has good parking mode recording.
It is easily the best bang for the buck dashcam.

Will definitely consider, thank you for the tip!

Amazon has them for $150, and you can find coupons too.
Yea they're 169 but I dont mind spending more as long as its worth it. the size of this one and the fact that it records in my car is the only detriment I can see. I don't know if I want the world to know I was picking a booger before I got into a fatal car accident, I will literally haunt the F out of whomever got hold of that footage.

Heck yeah. You can even get a power attachment, that goes to the ALDL, so it runs 24/7; depending upon ambient temperature. Remember, FR and RR 1080, or FR-only 4K!

I run a Blackvue and R7 on blend mount. Vifio A129 is best bang for the buck.
So 2 votes for the A129, looks like the front runner. The quality of image and size of module is what's selling it for me

Have used Thinkware F800 dash cams in a couple of my cars. Good camera.

If hardwired to the car's battery the camera can be left in parking surveillance mode. The camera can be set to turn itself off if the battery voltage gets too low.

I have a BlackVue 2 channel model and really do like it....if I knew then what I know now I would have gotten the model with Cloud storage but it works quite well for cruises and potential incidences.

no you don't need to double up on the blendmount they sell a "kit" to mount camera it's just a longer screw and the arm comes with the camera. and i can confirm it works with the R7 and the new V1gen2 they all use the same power cable set up. it just makes for an easy solution with no other wires or mounting hardware.

So a SD card that you have to pull and download from, vs immediate cloud backup is your only gripe?

I drive truck and just picked up a Garmin 56 dash camera it shoots good quality video and takes pictures with voice command. Not very expensive but hard to find. They make several different models, I chose this one for the quality video. The more expensive model shoots a wide angle but the video quality isn’t as good.

I read up a lot at DashCamTalk before buying the wedge-shaped StreetGuardian for my wife a few years ago. I chose them because they had good customer support I could talk to. The system has been trouble-free but also event-free thankfully.

The cloud functionality it pretty garbage to be honest. The only thing remotely worth it for it is the real time impact alerts if someone bumps your car
