Hey everyone,
I have a 19 charger hellcat with 10.5'' replica rear rims and MT Street SS 305/35r20s on. Same setup I've had for over 2 years, with quite a few tire changes between. Two days ago I was driving to work and the check engine light came on. I plugged the scanner in and I got p0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio. I have noticed that in Sport mode on the freeway the car was taking a bit longer than usual to shift out of 4th gear. For a couple weeks it has been staying around 4k rpm just cruising there for just a little bit too long.
After work I went straight to the dealership and dropped the car off. I got a rental that would be paid for "if it were a warranty issue". Today I got a message from them saying, "Found DTCs 0735, 1DB6, 215C. Notice rear tire are wrong size and not recommended from factory. Customer needs to correct rear tire size and return if there is a problem." I realize that 215C output speed correlation is obviously going to be off because the circumference of the 305/35r20 is bigger than the stock tire. I don't care about that. I do care about the 0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio, especially when the car has trouble switching into 5th gear. From the few posts I've read about guys who have this problem, it seems to be faulty valve body that is an expensive fix under warranty.
I refused to pick up the car and they sent me an email from the tech, including a pdf about the 215C Output Speed Correlation code - nothing about the Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio.
Does anyone have experience with this? It's extremely hard for me to believe that 305/35r20s on a hellcat is going to cause a Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio and have troubles shifting into 5th gear. It's my fault for not changing back to the stock wheels out before I brought it to the dealership, but this seems like a petty way to get me to pay for a rental car and diagnostics, just to end up with a smoked tranny anyways.
Any advice is helpful, or rambling, or whatever. I appreciate it.
