Shouldn't there be some sort of screen or mesh inside that headlight inlet to prevent rocks, insects, birds, and other debris from getting completely sucked up in there? ...Kind of like how nasal hairs work, only for cars.

Insurance should cover it!

So, I'm assuming the supercharger blew up because the air flow was completely restricted, since there's a huge air box & filter that the air has to go through before entering the actual supercharger, correct?

Good question im not sure because when he called me and told me about it he was pretty devastated so he didn't say much just the the supercharger blew up and the motor

Sounds fishy to me. I would think if you restrict air flow the engine would simply stop like any regular engine would. I don't know about this particular engine and how it would respond, but that towel definitely didn't get past the air filter and it just doesn't sound right that the supercharger blew up when the air path was restricted.

Maybe he was experimenting with taking the air filter out for more power.

Your friend made up a terrible story to exp[lain how he really destroyed the SC and engine.

Not to mention, this isn't like the guy who walked in front of the A7 on the flight deck and got sucked inside the intake. I doubt there is that much draw from that hole and there is more pushing air into the hole at speed rather than sucking, plus I'd figure the the towel would have fallen off the bumper first since it sounds like he was just moving the car.

On top of getting past an airfilter it would have to pass the throttle body

Well if this story is true then he got what he had coming. That's a tough lesson to learn... That air filter is there to protect the engine. Must be a microfiber towel the size of a one ply toilet paper square. Even then... Getting down into the supercharger... Hard to buy that fish story.
