Please don’t look at or buy a Stellantis product as a financial investment. Fun investment sure. We are all at the mercy of Stellantis at this point. The lack of replacement parts & the obvious hemi engine issues coming out of the Saltillo engine plant will drive the prices down on all the hemi products. They all have issues. Risk & reward.
If you were referring to my comment to invest, it would be my intent as ownership to never sell investment

Just two different thoughts on the subject of ownership Sir'
I most appreciate the reflected answer and comment to my vent/rant/personal dis-appointment of the subject vehicle, I hope nothing but the best for your ownership being problem free (as well as all the other D170 owners).
Maybe someday when it has been self-proved to me that the D170 is trustworthy for me to invest in and the next vehicle for me personally to own (even during and after the vehicle warranty expires, I can grow old with and pass on) I would consider.
I appreciate the best wishes brother. And I do understand the concerns and if it truly is a good return on your investment. It sounds like you have made a thoughtful and well reasoned decision if it’s for you at this point. I don’t begrudge anyone that front.

As far as haters, it’s kind of like porn, you know it when you see it. I have seen enough of both to know it when I see it😂…just kidding in case my wife sees this.

No clue on the hater definition pertaining to this subject. Not my battle. I’m interested in facts pertaining to these cars.
Hater for me is some in this thread who seem to take joy over alleged widespread issues with the car. And be damned the “facts” of those of us that can actually give first hand account of our experience with it. If it‘s not for them and/or they think it’s overpriced hype, totally get it. I am responding that I am having no issues so those that might be interested, are getting first hand information.

I wish everyone on the forum good health for themselves and their rides.

Cool, I don't think anyone here fits that description.

@BondJames power train warranty is 5 years and 60K miles so you should have a lot more than 26 months left on a 170 engine.

In "auto" mine also used the traction control quite a bit. When I data logged it, it registered "ESP" for torque source the entire time I was WOT, however it didn't feel like a brick wall in mine, just subdued as it were. Flip it to "drag" and it was a whole different ball game.

I wondered if the programming had it pulling power in auto since they assume you're not at the track, but that's just a theory. I was surprised it needed that much ESP intervention on those big MT ET Rs.
Yep - forgot power train warranty is longer - i don‘t have data logging but that little light is on most of the time if i leave in auto mode.

Well, in terms of engine failures specifically, the availalbe evidence does not support wide spread engine failures caused by any defect in the car to date - period. I have continously kept track of all the YouTube videos, Facebook Groups I could locate, and this forum for reported problems with the Demon 170. First, for those interested in an honest and fair discussion on this topic, there is a normal expected engine failure rate with all production cars which is being ignored almost entirely. While manufacuters try to keep this a secret, it was reported, for example, in 2013 that Audi's engine failure rate was 1 in ever 27 engines produced. See "German cars' among worst for engine failures, Jan. 2013". So that fact of life has to be taken into account, as no production engines have ZERO failure rates and certainly that should not be expected of a 1025 HP drag car. Second, with only a few excepts I could find, the reported engine failures have occured in Demon 170s that were not broken-in the full 1,500 miles as set forth in the Demon 170 manul before dragging. While some will argue passionately Dodge's break-in procedure does not matter, the "fact" of the matter is Dodge tells all buyers in writing that if you dont follow this procedure you risk engine damage - period. We also have Demon 170 owners cutting off thier cats and/or modifying thier tunes, and those engine failures should not be counted because the car is being dragged outside of Dodge's original design and engineering for this specific engine. Thus, while the available evidence over time may change, the fact of the matter is as of today there has not been "wide spread" Demon 170 engine failures reported in unmodified Demon 170s, and certainly not in Demon 170s that were broken in as recommended in the Demon 170 manual so as to avoid "engine damage". Regarding other problems like spark plug regapping and panel fitment, if free spark plug regapping upsets you I would simply say you should not be buing a car desgined for the drag strip. Second, as my friend who owns a body shop told me "ITS A DODGE". My 2018 Demon hood has a minor factory fitment issue too. Happy to post a picture if any needs proof of that by the way, as "proof" of "wide-spread" engine failures has also been lacking particularlly on YouTube. And when you simply ask for proof or evidence, your posted comments get deleted by some of the "click baiters".

I know he has raced several OG demons and redeyes just like he did with the 170. I don’t remember him having ANY engine issues with all those other hellcats.

it’s not like he beat the 170 way more than his other cars, he dragged them all.

more evidence the 170 has issues to me.

glad he’s under warranty though I respect the man for going out and using these cars for what they were designed for. Hopefully Dodge will take care of him like Racerx.
Yes, the red eye engines have failures too, and the OG along with many redeyes that have the same exact rear based upon the official Dodge part number, are especaiilly know for the rear ends failing for example. Lastly, you also need to take into account if the Demon 170 was broken in per Dodge's recomendation and whether it was modified. I know some people will argue to the end of time that engine break-in does not matter, well Dodge disagrees. The break-in period before dragging is 1,500 miles period, and their is no evidence that Dodge has that wrong. Pulling off cats and altering the tune can also cause an engine failure prematurely.

Such a shitty way to end a car line as well. The most coveted and fastest demon and it’s plagued with engine issues. Dodge was killing it so hard and had been for the last decade marketing and selling these pigs well past their expiration. And we’ve been eating them up. Then they had to go and ruin all the fun and end it with this garbage??? How sad. It’s like a horrible ending to a great movie. It just ruins the whole thing. I’m just happy I got my 23 JB car brand new and it appears to be very well built. You’d hope so after dodge making this narrow body version of this since 2015…. But I do feel for you pretty babies. The hot girls that nobody will approach.
Show me accurate data first. How many Red Eye engines have failed? How does that compare to the Demon 170. How many Demon 170 engine failures happened in cars broken in fully before dragging per the Demon 170 manual? Thats what the manual states - if you dont break it in 1,500 miles before dragging it you risk engine damage. We need to see all the facts first for an honest debate, rather than rely upon all the speculation out there.

So was Ron's before it broke.
I don't know the first thing about Ron's issue. I will however refer to Uncle Tony's analysis that the D170's front sump design might be starving the engines for oil during drag conditions. He said in a video that it's a similar problem they had back in the day until racers put rear sump pans on their cars to avoid throwing rods at the 1,000ft mark.
