I tried contacting SRT themselves and they tell me the same thing that the dealership tells me, that I'm out of warranty and there is no recallSo yours has a problem and they refused to fix it? What about a BBB complaint also. Have you contacted Dodge Cares ior whatever it is at the headquarters?
Well I'm not going to turning the forum or petition into dodge them self I am going to turn it into the NHTSA in which case if they pass it dodge has no choice but to listen.I can appreciate your enthusiasm but it isn't gonna happen. No major manufacturer is intimidated by a forum. What will get their attention though is a class action lawsuit,
Well wouldn't a bearing freezing up causing your car to stop in the middle of the highway because it threw a belt and or caused other issues with tons of traffic be a safety issue for you or someone else? You do know that the NHTSA is called the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
They deal with safety defects, not failures on an internal combustion engine.
The only thing the NHTSA cares about is if the defect is a clear safety issue that can result in loss of life or serious injury.Well I'm not going to turning the forum or petition into dodge them self I am going to turn it into the NHTSA in which case if they pass it dodge has no choice but to listen.
Well I'm just trying to do everything I can since, yes my car is out of warranty and is 5-6 years old however only has 32,000 miles on it and you should not be having a failure at 32,000 miles. I appreciate the information and if that's the case then I guess that I'll be putting bearings in it in the end.The only thing the NHTSA cares about is if the defect is a clear safety issue that can result in loss of life or serious injury.
The NTHSA got involved with the 2011 1st gen Coyote Mustang with it's issues pertaining to the GETRAG MT-82.
It basically sed said the issues were annoying but not a hazard.
Ford did ID some QA issues and up graded some internal tranny parts and those issues passed into obscurity.
I can't see Stellantis backing anything to do with the 'old' Chrysler company although, while they could be nice, these guys aren't going to bleed money on a 5 or 6 yr old part,
,
No, that could literally happen with any vehicle. They all have bearings and belts that could fail.Well wouldn't a bearing freezing up causing your car to stop in the middle of the highway because it threw a belt and or caused other issues with tons of traffic be a safety issue for you or someone else?
You have a nearly 7 year old, 700hp car. Sorry, but them's the shakes. While it would be nice if our cars ran forever without problem, one can't expect them to. There's a reason why so many people sell Hellcats after the 3y/36,000 mark. They're expensive to maintain. A blower bearing failure isn't going to cause an unsafe situation on the road. They don't generally "lock up" without many days of ample warning (or weeks/months). If someone keeps driving a bad blower bearing, yep... it could lock up and kill the blower, but the car isn't going to screech to a sudden halt as a result.Well I'm just trying to do everything I can since, yes my car is out of warranty and is 5-6 years old however only has 32,000 miles on it and you should not be having a failure at 32,000 miles. One option not discussed here is go in to the dealer where you purchased your HC new and talk to the Finance Person. Negotiate to have your bearing issue fixed if you purchase an extended warranty.Hello everyone,
I know tons of people have had this issue and some have gotten replaced under warranty and some have had to pay out of pocket. I'm trying to get a petition together to turn into the NHTSA to get a recall put on these Superchargers for their bearings since dodge doesn't want to. I have a 2015 Hellcat and it barely has 32,000 miles on it because it's rarely driven but since it is out of the 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty and there is no recall they won't do a thing about it. So I'm trying to get as many people as I can to get this recall started so people can get it taken care of and or be reimbursed if they have had to pay for it.
, Thank you
Thank you for the information I wish dodge was a little more helpful haha. I know it's ran by its own belt I didn't when I replied to the other person that it was going to just completely kill the car and damage the engine. I guess I should have been more precise but I meant it as in if the supercharger were to malfunction the car would lose power immediately like you said because now the fuel to air ratio would be completely off and if that were to happen especially using cruise control the car would immediately kick out and slow down very fast and could end up killing the car because it would be shoving so much fuel in and not taking enough air. But I get it, it's not a big enough safety issue to do anything about. The SC is driven by it's own belt also so the acc's. would still work just lose allot of power. Hypothetically the SC belt could take out the acc. belt but that's a stretch.
It does suck that things are needed replaced with so little miles but it's not just Dodge. The Cts-v has SC issues as well I replaced mine at 29k miles out of warranty.
You know I appreciate the input and I get it's an older car and isn't a big enough issue to do anything about this is why I commented earlier telling people to disregard since I can't take the post down. I also understand that the car is 700 horsepower and it's a street legal track car. However when I spend the money I did on a car like this that is supposed to be a performance car and go down the track while still being a daily driver I would expect to get what I paid out of it and bearings going bad at 32,000 miles on a car I haven't even made any modifications to yet or ran down the track yet is kind of something I think should be covered by the manufacturer. Especially since everyone, (including dodge) knows the the 2015-2016 and even some of 2017 before they fixed the issue, had bearings and parts that weren't up to tolerance. Thank you for the information though. You have a nearly 7 year old, 700hp car. Sorry, but them's the shakes. While it would be nice if our cars ran forever without problem, one can't expect them to. You won't get any vehicle manufacturer (outside of Hyundai or Kia) to do a recall on something that's past the 5yr warranty period. Cars today are DESIGNED with PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE in mind. Meaning, they are designed to fail and are not designed with all the best features available. This is no secret in the automotive industry. They want the cars to break down around 100k miles or after 5 years so you'll come in and upgrade.
You're not going to get any sympathy from anyone at Dodge or the NHTSA for bringing in a damaged blower bearing after 6+ years of use that successfully functioned past its warranty period. Sure, it might be low miles... but it's a 700hp car that was designed to put in hard work, 1/4 mile at a time. 6 years is a great amount of time for a blower. I routinely had to replace my head units on my ProCharged Mustang at least every 2 years.
I'm trying to do that right now but I couldn't get ahold of anyone important at the dealership today and I'm waiting for them to return my call. Thank you for your help! One option not discussed here is go in to the dealer where you purchased your HC new and talk to the Finance Person. Even if they say no, you might consider purchasing an EW if you plan to keep the car. While I appreciate the many polarized opinions about EWs, I suspect this repair might have paid for the EW Cost.
You can also start shopping for techs that can replace the bearings, like speed shops, etc.
Suggest opting for an appointment to go in for a face-to-face meeting, which is more powerful. Harder to say No....I'm trying to do that right now but I couldn't get ahold of anyone important at the dealership today and I'm waiting for them to return my call. Thank you for your help!
