ROYAL OAK, MI-Sorry, Viper fans. Don't expect Dodge to be offering a Hellcat engine in the supercar anytime soon. Dodge officials, including CEO and President Tim Kuniskis, say there are no plans to put the 707-horsepower engine from the 2015 Charger and Challenger Hellcat models into the Viper.

"I can't go and take the Hellcat engine and put it in there," Kuniskis told MLive Saturday at Dodge's elaborate Woodward Dream Cruise display in Royal Oak. "I would just change the dynamics of the car. I'd also add 200 pounds to the nose of the car."

Chatter about the engine coming to the Viper started pretty much immediately after Dodge unveiled the 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat for the Dream Cruise Wednesday at Vinsetta Garage in Berkley.

Yeah when I first heard about this they said the dimensions of the whole engine and supercharger wouldn't fit, the viper hood and front engine bay would have to be redesigned if it were to go thru.

That will TOTALLY be out of my price range. I will be happy to putz around in my little HCat!:)
Same here. But they did just drop the price on Vipers by $15K, and the price on the Hellcat was surprisingly low (and pleasantly so), so I wouldn't be too surprised to see BIG increases in Viper sales for the 2016 model year. I think more people would be happy with a supercharged Viper convertible in the $120K range.
Still out of my price range though.......WAY out of my price range.
Maybe a lovingly used one in five years or so....
........NAH! :D

Viper sales have increased 184% since the $15k price drop! And its well out of my price range also but I'm really not a fan of the Viper anyway.

I don't know why they did not put a Viper engine in the Challenger????????
Exactly ...
Many know already the HC v8 wont shoehorn into the Vipers engine bay...
Weight etc... is a factor they would have to redesign the entire Viper from the ground up.
V10 will stay exclusive on the viper that BTW weighs 1200 lbs less than our big girls..
No way to compare the two nor would they ever cross lines on such a halo vehicle like the Viper.

I wish they would have built that copperhead concept many years ago. It was a mini viper :)

What about the Barracuda? If they come up with a V-6 with turbos on the Dart frame, that might be a wild little car!

I would get a new Viper but will get more use out of the Hellcat ( really at this time would have to be one or the other and my dealer has a beauty on the Showroom floor and wants it gone)
