The Challenger hasn’t seen a significant redesign since 2008 and it got a refresh for 2015. Earlier, I read few articles that a new Challenger would arrive for 2023; which does not mean that the current model will disappear. A publication alleges Dodge is considering building the current- and next-generation Challenger models together, if only for a few months, at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada.

The Challenger has been out for a decade, and it’s only getting more popular. Even though Chrysler hasn’t fully redesigned the Challenger, they’ve kept it tremendously modern with many technology updates. They’re also releasing new versions, continually keeping buyers coming back with more power, new models and special versions like the Hellcat, the Redeye, and the Demon. Why change something that is almost perfect?

So, will we see a refresh soon?
Thoughts.

Im thinking a refresh will happen in 2021 or it wont happen. New platform is on the way and it it wouldnt make sense to do a refresh for only one year.

It's not so clear.
People are saying it'll happen in 2021, others in 2023.
When do you think FCA will refresh the Hellcat?
Refresh in 2023? No way. Unless by refresh you mean new design, which a refresh isnt. Pretty sure a new platform will be here in 2023-24. Refresh would only make sense for 2021 imo. The new downturn in the economy from the virus may change things though.
There were rumors of electrification in interviews about the future Hellcat. Probably electric motor assist at the front wheels in conjunction with the gas engine, a hybrid of sorts. Ford is rumored to be doing the same with the Mustang in the next couple of years as well. I’m guessing they need to do something for stricter emissions regulations that will be coming in 2023 I believe.
So if all that were to happen in say, 2023, a refresh would really only make sense for 2021 if at all. It may quite easily never even happen now that 2020 is basically a wash with everything shut down and 2021 orders not really that far away now.

I don't know, I'm an old guy and I was around street racing my 69 Bee back in the early 70s. I was not just gas prices the doomed the musclecar back then, it was the Insurance companies. Those cars were making 300 to 500 hp. Not 717 on up!
How much longer before the insurance companies do it again?

Why mess with good thing,I've wondered if xj cherokee sales were that low and if magnum sales were that low to stop production, would like new one of each.
That's right! Why does a Dodge Challenger need to be redesigned?
I don't get it why some people are asking changes? Maybe few in technologies and little on interior material quality. That's it!
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat can live for 20 years more, they just need to improve more and more in power, like they are doing until now.
Long live the Hellcat!

Wouldnt worry about the power part. If they add electric assist there should be some pretty good power numbers lol. Great way to conform to tightening emissions regs while increasing power.
The Italian influence they can keep though. Ew.

Thanks to all of you for participating here and I have the last question:
Base on the current situation (COVID-19) and additional information you may have, do you think the Dodge Challenger Hellcat will be modified for 2021 (External changes or interior design) or it is just speculations?

I'm asking because I want to buy a Redeye but I would like to save more money just in case, for a better downpayment and lower the monthly payments, but I wouldn't want to wait until 2021 and Dodge come out with a new design exterior or interior that I don't like it. I pretend to get it as a Lease, then I will buy it if all goes well with it.

Also, do you think after this "Covid-19" crisis, the dealers and brands will low the prices?

I think the tires and brakes on these cars are preventing a lot of the carnage, or limiting it, that the old school cars experienced. Oh, and ABS.

How could Dodge retain it's uniqueness as a muscle car provider without becoming something completely different? This was a similar question asked to Viper engineers regarding its future beyond 2017. For example, how could Viper retain its DNA and not be just another low-volume hybrid-electric mid-engine supercar? The SRT Tomahawk concept comes to mind and advancements in active-aerodynamics, however, it would require a high-production base model. This is where Dodge took over with the Dodge Demon in 2018. A low-volume hero car that has a high-production baseline.

Leadership will matter when it comes to the future of Dodge. Mike Manley, FCA CEO, put emphasis and funds through 2022 focused on Electrification, Autonomy, and Connectivity; primarily directed at Alfa, Ram, Jeep, and Maserati brands and supporting their 5-year plans through 2022.
Leadership that are car enthusiasts push brand limits while also producing significant return on investment. For example, pay attention to people such as Tim Kuniskus and see what he is currently doing with the Alfa brand.
  • 220 pounds lighter with the driveshaft, hood, roof, front fascia, and fenders all made from carbon-fiber.
  • new springs, dampers, and bushings, along with front and rear tracks that are two inches wider
  • front splitter, rear spoiler, and side skirts developed to benefit aerodynamics
  • helmet in GTA livery; a racing suit, gloves, and shoes; a personalized car cover; and tuition at the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy with every car
For Dodge, we can expect the Hellcat, Redeye and sister vehicles to gain improvements in Connectivity and Services between now and 2022. Electrification and Autonomy don't necessarily align with the DNA of Dodge. The challenge is how can the DNA of Dodge muscle cars align with the financial priorities of FCA leadership going forward? Perhaps this is where we need another Ford vs. Ferrari scenario to happen.

It would be nice for the trickle down/new technology to continue between now and 2022. e.g. Redeye engine dispersed across multiple platforms, transbrake, high octane button (e.g. E85 flex fuel, race fuel), active suspension/active springs, lighter weight components (carbon fiber), active aero such as ride height adjustment, drag race focused wheel/tire packages (e.g. Nitto 555 GII tires and 18" rims), track focused lightweight Challenger Redeye, lightweight seat package like Recaros, regenerative braking, electric boost, more power, button to control the active exhaust, dash camera, performance data recorder etc.

I can tell you if it changes to anything that even remotely looks like the GTA it will not sell like it does now. Performance be damned.
That GTO - er, GTA styling goes against everything Dodge is currently.
Also i need to get my hands on one more new Hellcat before BMW gets involved. Over complicating everything they touch and reducing long term reliability is especially concerning to me. I want zero to do with a product that is influenced by BMW.
