Dodge changed the stock wheels on 23 :(

Well, tonight I am extremely disappointed after I got a rendering finally showing up beside my order.

This is the car I thought I had ordered:
Wheel Tire Window Vehicle Hood

This is the render:
Wheel Vehicle Tire Window Hood

I apologize to anyone who likes these wheels, everyone has their own tastes, but I am extremely saddened. It dramatically changes the look of the car, and I am just upset with dodge for not having an updated build experience for us to use to order these cars. This is not what I was expecting at all. (The dealer does know to leave the license plate off my car though, so at least there is that! lol).

I'm calling my dealer tomorrow to ask him if it's possible to order a set of '22 stock OEM wheels. It's just honestly killing a lot of the joy of ordering this car for me to have such a prominent feature swapped out from what I was expecting. This was my first ordered car and I can't understate how in love with it I was.

Emphasis on was.

Don't suppose anyone here is near Boston/new england and has very lightly used '22 stock wheels you want to trade? Or does anyone have input on how to get the wheels I wanted?

The issue he’s having is the build site hadnt been updated with ‘23 pictures yet. He had no pics to go by. The name of the base wheels had changed, but that is easily overlooked without pictures. I do agree with you though, to not even want a hellcat now is more of a knee-jerk disappointment reaction than anything else. He’ll get the wheels figured out somehow and in the end he’ll be back here telling us how much he loves his new car lol. I completely get the disappointment because wheels can make or break how you see your car.
I know, I've been through the ordering process screens. But you have to make a wheel selection. In my case there were three choices. Bottom line is an uninformed choice is still a choice. You can always defer until you're satisfied that you have the information you need to make the decision. Or plow through if that's your choice, but then it's on you (and he knows that, he's admitted as much).

I agree completely
On 11/1/22, when I was doing my order over the phone with the salesman. He seemed equally frustrated by the lack of info from Dodge. Even he didn't have access to any photos. When we got to the wheels, and I asked for the machined granite pocket wheels he said the only available codes were the Brass monkey and the Matte Vapor and it didn't say what the standard wheel even was. So in the end I bought a used set for $1,100 and spent another $800 to have them stripped and powder coated. They came out great. I just need a car to put them on.

If you get that it's "technically true" then why all the drama? I've been through the order process on a '23 and you have to select a wheel. You selected the wrong wheel. No need for all the hand wringing and temper tantrums. Phrases like "making me reconsider whether I even want a hellcat at all" and "All my excitement for owning a hellcat is dead" is not a good look for anyone. Walk away from the car and let a reasonable person buy it.
That was because of how customer service treated me, not the wheel. It makes me genuinely worry that if I have issues with the car they won't back it up or help me out.

And for everyone saying I saw the wheels, yes I did. I never denied I did. What I am saying is the difference between the description of the wheels I THOUGHT I was getting and the wheels I got was one word. Drag vs Perf. I didn't know it was different. If they would have had ANY visual representation at all I would have realized instantly they changed them and chosen the 5-spoke vapors; I wasn't expecting them to put scat pack wheels on a hellcat. Why would anyone think that vs seeing the same description as the 2022 builder you're working off of in the spreadsheet.

And yeah, I express when I feel upset. I guess it's the perk of being a woman and not having to repress every last emotion I ever feel. The car being delivered doesn't look like the car I have been dreaming about daily for about half a year now, and yes I am disappointed I won't have that straight off the lot. Dodge basically told me to **** myself, buy it or someone else will, instead of work out a fair deal. Yeah it made me wonder if this is really a company I want to spend this much money with, or if I'd rather skip owning the hellcat and build the tribute 71 hemicuda instead. Sue me.

I just hope the post helped somebody who had their heart set on the HC2 5 spokes swap their order to Vapors before their car gets built. Cuz as much sass as you wanna give me, I know I am gonna be far from the only person to have made this mistake.

On about Jan 15th I noticed Dodge had the audacity to add the 2023 Hornet to the build configurator but still haven't put up the 23' Chargers and Challengers. I wrote them an email asking why they're lagging and the response was "we want the configurater to reflect the majority of what dealers have in stock! WATAF?? Makes no sense considering you can't order a 22 your way anymore anyway. They're basically just pissing on our backs and telling us it's a nice warm rain. Get your shit together Dodge and update your info. This is 2023 for Christ's sake, hire another dewd or a chick to work along side the kid who added the Hornet. Quit your STALLing STALLantis.

They have done this forever and probably won't change. They want you to get your information from the dealers so they intentionally hold the Build and Price back until sufficient cars (Hornet) have landed on dealer lots and you can then use the B&P to compare 2022 vs 2023. Yes it seems silly to intentionally withhold this information in this day and age but this is what they do. So get your info from a good dealer (rare) or here!

So...you saw the wheels before you ordered the car but you were mistaken about what you ordered and you're mad at the dealer and Dodge because even though you ordered the wrong wheels and the car is already on its way to you, you have hurt feelings and your experience is ruined and you're not even sure you still want the car because the factory won't drop what they're doing to go find the wheels you mistakenly didn't order and ship them to the dealer to be swapped out and now you're worried that they won't honor the warranty because they won't fulfill your ridiculous suggestion, which you feel is "reasonable"

I'm currently at a CDJR dealer getting my oil changed and I told the service writer your story. He's laughing his ass off at you.

Is one of the perks of being a woman to also have completely unreasonable expectations and say crazy and stupid things and then blame it on being a woman?

The over/under on your age is 15. I'm taking the under.

Let's add that she's been dreaming of this car for 6 months. I was dreaming for mine for 5 years before getting mine. If you are going to abandon your car order over the wheels you certainly are not the enthusiast you think you are. I have been on this forum for 3 years and have seen a lot of bitchin and moanin, including myself lol. But never on and on about these frickin wheels!!! So trivial when compared to the big picture. Ish happens. People have their cars damaged during transport, paint jacked up, creaking noises, etc but your problem is the wheels you ordered. Time to move on! You will eventually be back telling us how much you adore your Hellcat when it comes in. Enjoy it. Life is short.

You will love the car. You can't see the wheels when your driving and that's the best part!

I was stuck with no wheel choice because I was too frugal to pay for a Jailbreak markup and now I am "stuck" with a regular 'ol Widebody Redeye. Now - I don't even care and in fact I like the wheels I have now better and glad it turned out as such.

Can't argue with your feelings but I will say they can change. How many times do any of us have a first reaction when something doesn't go your way? Its part of being Human. Looks like you took a couple of breaths and realize how little that means to your dream and how easy it will be to fix if needed.

Yeah theyre not going to switch out the wheels for you. That's a dealer thing if anything. Sounds crazy but they fulfilled an order from the dealer. Every new vehicle I've purchased, the dealer has emphasized that no changes can be made once the order goes in. It's now on you and the dealer to work it out - or not...
(speaks in hushed, reverent tones) You actually drive your Demon?

Feels like warm rain to me! I don't know anyone who wants a year old model car that they can't build. Do you? They damn well have the ability to put '22 and '23 info on the configurator same as the toggle switch for "buy" or "lease". It's very obvious that they are F-ing with their potential customer. What does "Dodge Cares" think? I'm pretty sure they read these posts. Hello? Is "Dodge Cares" out there??hello hello hello..
Knock knock?
Who's there?
Dodge doesn't...
Dodge doesn't who?
Dodge doesn't care if I'm aware.

Well, in my case I recently ordered a '23 Durango using the now two year old Build & Price.
What will it look like and consist of? I'll find out when it shows up.

Not sure why people scream out for Dodgecares. That is a joke. OP has already bypassed the messenger which is just a glorified PR secretary anyway.

i seen the Hornet too, did you noticed the order from Your home option….home delivery too. Another way to reduce costs & jab the dealers they depend upon for service. 😬

Pretty sure it still goes to a local dealer for PDI before delivery to you. Even Corvette does it this way for factory delivery.

Dodge cares is the joke and no one is screaming.
These 5-spokes are about 25 lbs, not sure what the drag wheels weigh but guessing they are similar.

There was once a time that wheels were considered “day 1” modifications and on some of the greatest cars ever built.

And today… wheels ruin Christmas.:rolleyes::unsure:
