I have a '19 Redeye WB with navigation and I was thinking of trading it in for a '21 SS. I just wanted to know if there were any other benefits to getting the navigation like a better screen, better head unit, better sound etc. If you go to dodge.com and build one with navigation it has a long list of things it comes with including HD radio, but nothing for the standard. Do they both have HD radio and if not is the HD radio that much better?

No, but it was standard in earlier models. With WAZE navigation, why use it?
I was just wondering if there was anything better about it that the standard didn't have. I saw the HD radio and was thinking maybe it sounded better, but I have never taken mine off of the HD stations to see if the sound was different. I know back in the old days if you didn't get nav from the factory they could just go into the radio and activate for a few hundred dollars, but that changed that to you either have it or you don't. No going back and activating it after the fact.

Honestly, I think it's a gimmick for older people as a "perk", which they'll never use. It's one of those old things like, "It's loaded; Undercoating, 15-speaker Karmon Hardon, U-Connect, ...." I rarely listen to the radio and just use my flash drive with a bunch of songs on it.

I was not purposely looking for it on my car, but it did come with it...

1.) Not everyone wants to use their cell phone for navigation, and in many states, simply holding the phone while driving is grounds for a ticket
2.) Cellphone signal could be issues in areas of elevation or areas of wilderness
3.) Its nice just being able to program it into the car and not worry about it...

Do I care which version I use? No... but remember...not everyone is tech savvy, not everyone wants a smart phone, and not everyone wants to keep having to look down or look elsewhere

Ive seen two people recenly complain about the "terrible" quality of the rear view camera in their new Challengers vs their previous Ram pickups. Interestingly both did NOT have the NAV option in their cars. Ive had a 15, 18 and 19 challenger and always had a good pic, and all 3 had nav. Not saying thats a smoking gun and Ive also never seen a pic through a challenger screen without Nav so I cant say, but it made me wonder.

With Apple car play or Android auto why spend $1,000? No need to hold the phone.
Does Apple Car Play and Android Auto work in the center screen if you DONT have the nav option?

Nah, they are just upselling you on something that will become outdated in a year or two.

Goofle Mapz works amazing through Android Auto - you can even voice plot a new destination on the fly.

Because not everyone wants to use those apps, and in many cases, they can be more difficult to use. Also, in many cases, the navigation option is usually tied to a larger screen or some other package anyways...

It's just the camera in general. It's crap compared to other manufacturers. My ZL1's rear camera was superior to my Challenger's...

I still like to have the NAV option. One reason is that NAV built in is integrated in the console in front of the steering wheel. I don’t have to look at the center console to get the directions.

Overall I’ve also had better tracking with in-car NAV than on my iPhone. The biggest downside is if the maps are out of date, but now you can update the maps on most cars (I think you can on the charger too, I haven’t looked yet)

Yea, I don’t see a need for the navigation. When you say people don’t want to use their phone or hold in their hand, I’m not seeing a need to have the phone in your hand after the directions have been inputted. Using wazes vs the nav (when I had in my 18 DDSRT), wazes was always superior (plus it avoids traffic in real time).

9 times out of 10, you’ll either be listening to your exhaust/engine vs the music…and sorry it’s 2021, who listens to actual radio when pandora, Apple Music, Spotify, tidal, and every other streaming services exist????

Had the nav and never used it, so didn’t opt for it in my HC 🤷🏾‍♂️

For me the added cost doesn't justify NAV. Waze on the phone is the most up to date map in the world (because it's updated by the users, lots and lots of users), plus the live traffic and hazards on Waze make it indispensable. I understand not wanting to get a smartphone, but since I have one, paying extra for NAV in my car was pointless.

Waze is also better than any radar detector I’ve ever owned. Well, if you’re traveling on highways and main roads at least….

I have had factory Nav, and never use it. It didn't have real time traffic info and is outdated in a year or two. Save yourself $1000! Its only value to me would be the 5 free years of SirusXM. I also don't understand this argument for resell value for the next guy???? So I should spend 1K to recoup and extra $100-500 on the back end? Naw.
If you have a smart phone.. GoogleMaps and Waze are superior IMO hands down and its free!
I also use a ProClip to hold my phone, it cost more than cheap Amazon mounts but Well worth its price.
At the end of the day is your choice and money.

I have navigation but rarely use it. It's just more convenient to tap a hyperlinked address on my phone and automatically bring up WAZE or Google Maps instead of entering the information into my Uconnect head unit. And the phone navi apps are constantly updated.
