Hey so I have an hellcat challenger 2016 stock. I just ordered mickey thompson's ET Street R Bias 17 inch. I was wondering what direct 17 inch rims should I go for? If this has been asked already sorry.

I am not 100% sure what you are asking? Can you give more details or re phrase your question? Also why did you order the bias ply? Is your car a Manual?
I do not like the Race stars that use a mag shank lug nut. I would run the Forgestar wheels if you are on a budget. If you have the money I would run the Billet Specialties Win Lite. They have a slightly better offset so you will not be as likely to rub on that rib in the plastic wheel tub.

With 17" wheels you MUST check your shock control wires on both sides. Relocate as necessary to prevent rubbing. You can lube the wires and push them in the existing holders twoards the center of the car and tie wrap the excess.

Is there a problem with the mag lug nuts or is it just personal preference?
Well with that particular brand wheel you would need longer wheel studs to go along with the mag shank lug nuts (to be NHRA Leagal and be reasonably safe). Once you put in longer wheel studs it would be personal preference at that point. Mag Shank Lug centric wheels not as accurate as a conical seat. The washers alway gall and look nasty.
