Before an accident, I didn’t have an issue with switching between drive modes while driving? the car has been fully repaired but now when I shift between drive modes I get a message at the top of the screen saying it can’t shift the mode and it highlights the steering indicator.. a srt specialist at a dealer said this is due to a new update? I’m getting the car back in a little while to see for myself.. they say the steering wheel has to be straight and that it takes 10 seconds for it to shift the steering mode. Anyone experience this… do you think it’s normal?

There is a Steering Wheel Angle Sensor and a Gauge for this Sensor accessible on the Performance Pages. On the PP Home Button, select one of the Gauges and you'll get a Menu of Choices to display. Select Gauges and locate Steering Wheel Sensor. With the steering wheel straight ahead, this sensor should display Zero, so now you can confirm what the Angle Sensor senses and is telling the Computers about Steering Wheel Position.

Was the Car aligned after the accident?? Might be the Angle Sensor was not recalibrated to zero with the Steering Wheel straight ahead or something like this out of synch.

Let us know...

Best!

Ok, the steering angle returns to zero after turning.. the srt modes do switch with a slight delay after the error msg.. doesn’t happen when stopped. My car had the whole front suspension and oil related parts replaced due to the accident which cost about $40k to repair… since it went off roading for a short distance.. for sale at 54k.. looks perfect

Was the steering column replaced? I think I read that FCA procedure requires a new column above a certain impact and this one sounds pretty serious.
