If you have a lift no, you can drop the rear two pipes and support them as you work around the exhaust, it took us about 30 min with the two of us to do it that way, if doing on the floor yes it will be easier to take it off..

Rob did you get the Al or CF shaft? Also we had an issue with the rear bolts (8) the second one sheared the head off when we were torquing them, so to be on the safe side we replaced all 8 with the next grade up, not sure why Frank used the one's he supplied..head did not need to be that shallow...which caused the weak spot.

TC are the bolts they send with the shaft low grade ? I'm assuming they are Allen bolts grade 8 ? Only reason I'm asking is I have new bolts at work and I ordered the CF shaft should I not use the bolts that come with the shaft? Thx

Frank was made aware of the issue the morning after we installed our shaft,he did reply that they were the correct grade but I never herd back after that, the issue is that the head is very shallow and the allen is so deep that it left very little material at the neck where the shaft and the head of the bolt meet, we used the next grade up and the normal head fit just fine, so I'm not sure why Frank chose those bolts. When installing it is important to Tq the bolts to spec and not just think they are good enough..

Did you get different bolts? Do you think the exhaust needs to be wrapped with heat tape near the shaft?

We mentioned this on another DS thread as well, the shaft isn't close enough and the exhaust doesn't get hot enough to need to worry about this. The CF one will hold up just fine without any issues.

Looks very close to me.

Now, the CF driveshaft is about 1/2 inch thinner than the aluminum one in this pic, but that is very close IMHO, but again-I don't know what a 100 degree day in traffic will produce, or parking the car after a hot run.

Ran one for 2 yrs, never an issue. If it was an issue, DSS would have some sort of mention on there site "off-road use only" or something along those lines
