Hello fellow SRT community, I pulled into my driveway which is at a slope and I put my E BRAKE ON. I forgot it was one and drove for about 2 miles before I had realized the emergency brake was initiated. I wasn’t going faster then 40 MPH. Maybe 45 tops. I know I’m a retard for doing that rookie mistake. You guys think everything should be good? I’m concerned I realized the e brake was on and even caught on to the smell it had left.

I agree to get it looked at, but I'd guess you're okay. If the e-brake uses the rear rotors and pads and just clamps down on them, which I believe is the case, then probably the only issue would be a bit of wear to the rear pads. However, there are some more mechanically minded guys that should chime in and give you the skinny.

How did this happen in the first place?? Doesn't the dash have lights & irritating ding ding ding stuff going off??
Not on the manual cars. Ask me how I know why it doesn't alert you to such a stupid mistake, then ask my rear rotors after lol 🙃

Ours was a literal pedal and pull switch to release, where as the auto cars I believe are electronic?

Seeing as his post title says "Charger" and they were auto only, he def had a good song on and disregarded the chime alerts lol

Parking brake uses separate brake shoes inside a drum on the back of the rear rotors. It does not use the disc brake calipers, pads or the rotor surface. You may have worn the shoes down and should have them checked or at least try the parking brake and see if it still holds.

This is on the Challengers and I'm not sure about the Chargers but likely they are the same design.

This....just isn't true. I did all 4 rotor rings on my car and can assure you theres no shoe or drum system behind that rear rotor. It grabs with the caliper on the Brembo 6 piston cars. On the lower trim it does use a shoe inside the rotor but we're talking about a HC here.
Sorry if this was bad information. I have not actually pulled the rear rotors on my 2015 Challenger Hellcat but the service manual states the parking brake is drum in rotor type and goes into great detail about servicing the same specifically under the Hellcat section. So maybe it is different on later models and/or the Charger Hellcat - or the service manual is just simply wrong.

^ He is correct. End of story here. I have pulled rear rotors, but this is also common knowledge, I am surprised at the confusion and bad info here.

OP my guess is you had it on so light, no problem. Sit on a hill, check if it still holds, if so, your good, IMO.

I will dig for the pic but I had all 4 rotors off, the rings off the front and the rear had a heavy taper to the inside wall to where a drum wouldn't have worked. maybe I'm losing my mind?

quick digging brings up this diagram, without any sign of rear drums. what am I missing?

Your car is also an auto, maybe there is a difference between the manual cars as my ebrake is a pedal and not a switch activated solenoid?

edit: found this and it clearly has a drum on it, maybe I am actually losing my mind as I do not recall seeing one on my car when I did the rotor job last year

No need to apologize that was my bad, I was certain they didn't have a drum behind the rotor but all signs are pointing toward me being a dumbass

I am sorry, not you :)

Let us look at the parking brake diagram and NOT the power brake diagram. Your all welcome.
