Noticed the last couple of days while backing out of the driveway immediately after going into reverse i get a metalic clunk coming from the bottom side of the car. Happens only once whenever i throw it into reverse after hopping into the car. I believe i had a small noise like that before the DS and its only being amplified by the hollow aluminum driveshaft. Nothing is touching the driveshaft, bolts were all torqued and locktighted. Any ideas? Doesnt bother me too much. No slack in the driveline, car has seen 140mph with no weird noises/vibrations, and its makes no noise cruising around town. Ive gotten under the car and tried to rotate the driveshaft by hand to see if maybe a u joint or whatever is used is broken and its still solid.

Even though there is no slack, I would also look at the exhaust system to see that it is not touching the Driveshaft. Eventually the rubbing could wear through and cause much damage.

CV joint for many and that aluminum shaft is noisy as hell sometimes. Buddy returned TWO of them after having the same issue and went with a CF one.

Try putting a shit load of grease in the slip yoke might help. The install instructions for these cleary states "Applying grease in the CV joint and inside the trans flange".

Remember, that aluminum amplifies the sound x10!

Yeah i figured it was just the aluminum making it louder. Like i said, not super worried about it. Car drives fine.

They tend to be noisy and I really wouldnt worry about it bro its pretty normal but I would grease them heavily might make it less noisy.

The install sheet never said anything about grease. Could be why its got a noise. Doesnt make any noise driving or anything. Just whenever i throw it in drive or reverse when its taking up driveline slack.

The install instruction indicate to grease the CV joint. At least mine did. I would DEFINATELY grease them heavily.

The only instructions i had were to measure the portion closest to the transmission. Didnt have tq values or anything past that. How do you grease them? Just slide something under the boot?

What? No, don’t grease it. They’re junk. Mine did that before it completely went out of balance (the clunk/clang shutting the reverse). Get rid of it it’s junk.
Is this recently? Ive seen theyve redone them in the last year or so. I dont have an adapter plate or anything like that. Was plug and play. Ive taken it up to 146 and didnt have any noise or vibrations. Honestly, just feels like the stock shaft.

You’re wrong about the driveshaft, Redeye one will hold anything you’re going to throw at it.
For every person having an issue with a product theres 10 or more that havent had an issue. Like i said, if there were other options that werent 6 months out id have probably gone with them but i want to race now so this one will do. I havent had any issues in the track visit and daily driving i do with it. Did DSS personally break your car or whats the story there?
