So I've seen several posts regarding DSS 1pc aluminum driveshafts having vibration issues immediately after install..I have had my DSS driveshaft (newest version) on the car for about a year now and put about 2k miles on it. I initially had no issues out of it, although I believe the rear CV was slinging grease..I recently had the BMR cradle lockout installed along with Speedlogix billet adjustable control arms. I am now noticing significant vibration from what feels to be the driveshaft anywhere between 70-80mph and at high speeds above 100 it only gets worse. Was curious if anyone else has had issues with developing vibration issues from the DSS driveshaft over time? I'm almost wondering if the CVs are getting worn and now with the cradle lockout I'm just feeling a lot more of the vibration that may have been minimized prior.

I may have to end up going that route..I was eyeing up the Wiles as I've seen nothing but good reviews on it. Did you try the Wiles by chance?

No I did not . Here is my list

DSS 3 different ones
CCI (1)
Gforce (1)

I gave up and went with the stock Denon /redeye after I spoke with a demon owner putting 1100rwhp through his with out failure . The carrier bearing is what wears out and you can't buy it separately from Mopar .. there is a company making a beefed up unit now so we should be fine.

I've got a 1 piece, 4in Wiles aluminum on my M6. No vibes, but I've only had it up around 100 or so, maybe a little more. Not a vib to be had though. Call Ralph and speak with him. When I ordered mine almost 2 yrs. ago, he was working on a two piece. Maybe he's done? Love mine though, and I also have the BMR Cradle Lock Out Kit installed.

Thanks for the feedback! That's promising you don't have vibrations with the Wiles and the cradle lockout. I know the lockout makes a lot of driveline vibrations more noticeable so that's good to hear! I'll probably end up getting a Wiles a this point.

Check to be sure the DS is not rubbing the exhaust anywhere. Especially check near the Transmission.

Thanks Linda. Ive checked and ensured it's not rubbing the exhaust. I also have a mid muffler delete which helps some. The vibration is pretty severe, more so than you'd get with it rubbing exhaust. At this point pretty positive I'm just another victim of these DSS driveshafts.

I have DSS and have not had the problem.
But the DS must have been tapping together with the exhaust and broke while I was racing at the upper end near the Tans. Which also damaged my Trans.

So I like to give a warning just incase.
I have one if the New DSS Al DS I dont have the vibration but I dont have the cradle lock out.

@Steelcat16 Did you just put a drag radial on yer car?
I've been running 305/45/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street R's in the rear since last June. I know sometimes they need a burnout to round em out every now and again or they will cause vibration too lol

I've had a DSS driveshaft (new version) for about two years, and about 150 or more 1/8 mile passes. No vibration so far, that I notice. I only go 105 or so in the 1/8. I installed the BMR lockout kit and AAD arms in the rear, Spring of 21 and raced the car all last year with that setup, no vibration that I've noticed.

I also don't drive the car much besides racing, so the DS doesn't have many miles on it, probably only a few thousand, if that.

Have you checked everything that was installed? Did the cradle get lined up right? Just wondering if there could be anything else that might cause your issue. I can't recall if it was in the directions or if I got the info in an email, but isn't there something about making sure the cradle is pulled back or something before tightening the bolts? I just made sure it went exactly where it was prior to install. I didn't really pull it back since it looks like it was exactly where it had been.

Maybe look at the cradle frame/bushings and just see if you can tell that everything is where it was before, that it isn't shifted slightly. Something to check at least.

You say they installed adj arms, so did they align the car too? Where did the alignment numbers come out?

Also, the DSS DS will hit the muffler on the passenger side, so you have to clearance the muffler some, which was probably done when it was installed but maybe something got shifted?

I would take a close look at all of the above since you didn't have vibration before the install of the control arms and the cradle lockout kit.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

I've had a Wiles 3.5" driveshaft for about 3 years. It's an aluminum one-piece shaft with carbon fiber insert and Sonnax flanges on both ends. I took mine to the dyno after installing it so it could be tested in a controlled environment. After making sure he didn't notice any problems or vibrations, the dyno operator took it to 180 mph three times and it was completely smooth. It's been working great for several thousand street miles and probably 30 or more quarter-mile passes at 125+ mph.

Yeah too bad no one has been able to get those flanges for over a year. I got lucky and a guy here had a barely used complete unit for a charger. He had a vibe and sent it to a couple different shops for balance before he gave up on it. I got it for next to nothing. Hopefully being that I (pay attention those w vibration):

a) I took the driveshaft apart, checked the flange’s for run out, they measured true, bolted the flanges to the trans n diff (after diff lock out n cradle lock out and brace installed and car leveled and suspension dialed, not before) and got a very accurate center to center measurement

b) took it to DriveShaft Pro for shortening and balancing. They are one of the few shops in L.A. area that can balance not just long shafts for limo’s but stuff like this with the weird flanges. The same guy has been doing the balancing there for the 20+ years I have been using them : )

For some reason our cars vary in length. I believe having the slip yoke pulled out too far is part of the issue. I have faith that my shaft being the longest one around (lol) and balanced with the flanges on it by the guy that balanced it - is gonna do just as good at the track next weekend as it did f’in round today.

Hope I didn’t just curse myself 🤪

I'd have to get back under the car and eye up the cradle although I'd like to say the shop didn't botch the install. They've worked on plenty of hellcats but I know always a chance of human error in anything. I don't have the alignment specs on hand but they did alignment once the adjustable control arms were put on. I don't have mid mufflers so no mufflers for the driveshaft to rub and it cleared the exhaust last I was under it.

Yep, I switched to the Redeye driveshaft as well for the same reason. Did cradle lockout last week, zero noise if anything the car is quieter in the rear now
