My understanding of it is that it will be an enhanced valet mode, not anti-theft. Limiting speed to less than 5 mph and lower rpm than current valet mode. Nothing to overcome a repeater box which has been used on all manufacturers that use proximity keyless entry. Anyone care to elaborate? @DodgeCares

Greetings moparbrad,
The software upgrade applies second-level vehicle security encryption via Uconnect 4C infotainment system. Using owner’s existing four-digit security code (PIN) from their Mopar.com/Uconnect account , feature limits vehicle’s engine speed to idle (675 rpm) and helps prevent auto theft. Double encryption has become common on consumer online accounts and adds a second layer of owner protection against vehicle theft.

So are you saying that a repeater box that duplicates your existing key would bypass Valet mode? I would think that Valet mode would stay on if it sees the same key. Would creating a new key (like where they plug into your OBD port) also bypass the Valet mode?

The next question is will the new 2-factor authentication be reset like Valet mode does when the battery is disconnected? @DodgeCares
