Probably the most not-used mode on the performance pages: ECO MODE.

I am trying to put some miles on the car to get to the 500 mile mark to unlock all the restricted function(s) that may or may not be available on my Redeye.

I had a 90 mile round trip to do today so I put the car in Sport mode on the way out and Eco mode on the return trip back.

Here's the incredible results:

SPORT MODE: 23.3 MPG

ECO MODE: 24.0 MPG

An absolutely amazing solution to the entire gas crisis we are undergoing at the moment.

So do your part and immediately switch your Hellcats to Eco mode. Because it's the right thing to do!

Well, the price of premium is a crisis to me. It's an amazing time when I park my diesel truck to drive the Redeye because the Redeye gets far better mileage on much cheaper fuel.

Not bad! Here's what I averaged over a 3K mile week long trip on a '15 Hellcat. I didn't have it in eco mode for most of the trip, and a lot of highway driving. Still miss that car!

LOL. I guess we need to start a hyper-miler thread on Hellcats now! Post your best (and worst) gas mileage displays. Lets see those single digit numbers!

I was trying to set 500hp mode for the wife to try the RE and while fumbling through the screens I saw ECO! Didn't even know it was there! Not sure why I would want to use it but thanks for doing the test! Now I know never to use it!

When I got my '20 M6, the mileage for the first 500 was not great:

The RE on the other hand did almost 24 on 600mi drive home from Koons!

Nah, I didnt get a Hellcat for the great gas mileage….and dropping into single digits is easy peasy on the back roads. I just didn’t see a need to gun the thing constantly on the highway for no reason.
- Actually my Toyota Tundra‘s gas mileage is dismal….and getting it into the single digits is normal around town..

I understand your enthusiasm, but what you're describing is precisely what eco mode doesn't do anything for.

That mode does a few things:
1} Limit engine output to 500hp. << Zero effect any driving that doesn't exceed 500 hp. Such as your trip.
2} Disables 1st gear, causing the car to start out in 2nd. << Zero effect if you're not doing stop & start driving. Such as your trip.
3} Adjusts shift points to optimize engine RPMs for efficiency, not power. << Zero effect if you're not moving around in mostly low gears. Such as your trip.

I know it's fun to poke fun at the idea of an eco mode on these cars. But you're fundamentally misunderstanding what the mode does.

That said, in its optimal use-case, how effective would it be? Well, it might be significant, but mostly because of the horsepower limitation. Flooring it is when you really, really drink gas. The rest... I dunno. I've never even seen Dodge suggesting what the projected savings are meant to be.

Personally I use it all (Canadian) winter long. There's absolutely no way to utilize anything like the car's normal power when it's snowy, slushy, and sub-zero. The gearing changes makes driving with almost no traction just a little more viable. It's not about the fuel economy for me, but it's still useful.

I don't think you can reliably state that ECO mode did better in a 90 mile highway drive and I would highly doubt there is a difference between sport or ECO when cruising along. You have to take into consideration that on the first trip in sport mode, you could have been driving slightly up grade and into a head wind, and on the way back, the opposite.
