Hellcat engine running. I'm sure this might be a dumb question I just associated the sound to the super charger but my friend was checking out my car and said that whirling noise is odd . He also said he wasn't sure because he's not familiar with hellcats. Just curious if that's normal sounding or something I should look into ?

Record more sound near the front of the SC, engine running. Be careful around that SC Belt.

I disagree, that whirring is not normal. That sounds like the early stage of blower bearing failure to me. I put 18k miles on my 2020 Hellcat and never had it sound like that.

Then find someone who can replace the SC bearings. They are out there...
Just out of curiosity because Ive never heard another hellcat or at least up close that is. What makes you think it's the bearings ? Because of how loud it is? The squeak noise is just coming from the belt...in person I just here alot of air compressing.

It sounds like you can hear the bearings spinning with some squealing.

If you think it's a belt, spray a water on one of the pulleys & see if the sgueel changes or stops.

Best thing to do is find a rebuilder & get their opinion.

Okay I'll try the water and see if that makes a difference I'm thinking it's just the belt when I'm close to it that's what it sounds like. And yeah that's true. No doubting what you're saying just trying to understand more and sometimes videos don't represent the sound coming from the right place so just wanted to be sure.

Yeah, hard to really know from a recording. A local tech could us a stethoscope to zero in the the culprit.

Failing bearing have different sounds with different pitched squeals of varying intensities to varying sounds as they roll. Normally, you shouldn't be able to hear the bearings roll and no squeal.

The only reason I'm thinking it isn't that is because I had my dad give it some gas and I don't hear anything then. Shouldn't it intensify or still be there or not necessarily? I did the water the noise to me went away. All I hear is the pistons and the air compressing. The air noise is normal right ? That's just the nature of the beast ? I'm not trying to be annoying or doubt I just know nothing and I'm trying to learn and understand. With water
