Ooh, ooh, ooh - it's that sarcasm thing again!

So you don't think Dodge management feels bad about this situation?

Do you think the poor innocent 'enthusiastic' dealers feel bad about the situation?

Sins are conscious and intentional...
FCA just better make it right......"Lee"

ok i have a real example... my dealer call me to ask me if i wanted a charger hellcat instead... i asked why you go a charger allocation and dint have our order instead... i checked and they still have the charger hellcat to sell after 2 week... so they go a "poisoned gift" and they dint sell it and they will loose allocation for next month... on my part i say to myself i give them 12k deposit,i`ve been waiting patiently since september, im 35 year old and it`s my second brand new srt product.. they give them a hellcat that is not sold and they are stuck with it... and im penalized because of that... i dont really think it`s fair but again i live in canada and mostly in quebec we speak french and we are so small... we have 2 of the 4 alfa romeo dealer in canada but we are still not big USA . i understand that`im not alone who wait and paied for the car, the demand and all the thing. i concider myself a very loyal customer. i ordered at the same dealer, same vendor. who care about loyality in 2015 heh ? ;-)

Well he accomplished one goal... We are all certainly interested and talking about it. Now to get those cars in our hands!

I know there are practical limits to production of any vehicle, and it's safe to assume there will only be a finite demand for the Hellcat... But to boldly state that there is no limit and that he want them in the hands of enthusiasts means Dodge had better step up and build as many as they get orders for.

My guess is that they do plan to make good on their promise and build cars for all of us (as long as their dealer followed the original allocation rules) but it will take longer to build them since they can't build them any faster. From what I've heard, 2016 and 2017 hellcats are a GO, so it's just a matter of time before we all get one. Demand won't be 9000/yr every year. It would be nice to hear a plan from Dodge letting us know they are going to take care of us.

So many theories but its SO simple, FCA management messed up big time!
Whoever made the call about estimating demand should be looking for a new job.
Did the dealers add to this, of course!
It's SO simple really........ really is!!
I'm not a marketing genius but holy crap its so easy to estimate.

Lets look at GM and Ford numbers.
Chevy sells 90k of all flavors of the Camaro, of that 8k yr ZL1
Ford sells about 80k of mustangs of that about 7k GT500 650hp when they made them...:)
FCA sells about 50K challengers, hmmm........how many Hellcats will we sell?. Highest HP in the market .....DUH....not 2500!!!. BTW your fired!
4500+
And yes, of course the FCA order system CAN stop taking orders when it hits a certain number, even a monkey could code that in 10min!
13/14 GT500 numbers were nearly the same each year at around 4500 units. No where near 7000

I never said Dodge was a "bad company". If they were, or they made garbage, I wouldn't be holing my butt, waiting in line for another ordered SRT8 Challenger - this one, a Hellcat.

What I've said all along was the way they handled this was botched from the start:
Nobody made a public statement that cars were being held to release all at once....
No one made a public statement that there were problems with the satin black hoods that caused delays.....
No one ever made a public statement that allocations would be used before / when the order banks opened.......
No one publicly stated that a dealerships was "limited" to a specific number of orders / allocations before ordering opened.....
but there were a LOT of public statements and promotions of the Hellcat before order banks were opened.....
Everything about the virtues of the car were fully disclosed before a single order was placed..... except the lack of communication to the 5-10% of the Challenger market that asked for this car.

I think I actually feel worst for our Canadian brethren - the land where these awesome machines are assembled. They've been waiting the longest with the fewest number of deliveries.

You don't need an economics major in school to say that even Fortune 500 companies make mistakes. No organization is exempt.
You also don't need a degree to see that what was said (and omitted) at the beginning wasn't the whole story.
I don't even think FCA knew everything and made a portion of it up on the fly.
Now's the time to make it right and learn for the future.

We haven't jumped ship. We know Dodge makes a good product, and are a good company with good people in high places, so we're still waiting.

Day 1 - Order banks open like general admission and there are zero limits. If an allocation system was to be used, why have a system that allows anybody to order Hellcats without allocation. They saw too many orders right then.

What should have happened and didn't due to poor management.
Day 2 should of had the order bank CLOSED, all orders cancelled and had restrictive rules put in place. Once that was done, then take 2 on opening the order banks.

You don't wait 5 MONTHS and then release a lame blog entry on your own site and blame dealers for your poor ordering system software, zero limits and ordering too many.

my dealer said to me that they have been allowed to take 3 hellcat order and no more... so they knew since day 1 how many allocation they had to start with ? no ?

If I go to the store and they have refrigerators on sale, do they sell 75 when they have 10?

No. The system doesn't allow it. No can do. They don't take 75 orders for home delivery, refuse to answer your questions and then wait 5 months and say "Well Joe in appliances ordered to many, go to another store"

If there were no limits on production then why the allocation rules ion the first place. The allocation rules set up the situation for mark-up. ot to mention in my search for a Charger I have found multiple dealers with unit now showing on dealer lot as well as in transit. One dealer is showing 3 on lot. Hows that allocation working again?

They wanted to get people excited and talking about Dodge? Well we're talking but I don't think most of us are excited, or happy, or even like Dodge much anymore. This whole Hellcat thing ended up doing the exact opposite of what they'd hoped and worse.

What good could come of this would be that a Dodge realize they have a SERIOUS problem with their dealer network and fix it. Every time I pick up a phone to call a Dodge dealer I'm immediately filled with dread when I hit send because I'm positive the information I get will be wrong, it will come from someone clueless about the product and even if I were speaking to a genius, they have no solid information about anything nor have they any way to get it. FCA needs a trickle down intelligence program - clearly the dealers aren't smart enough to speak on their own so how about one smart person at the top provide the answers? That way the parrots in the showroom could both sound educated and be accurate.

Or how about solid, official information posted on their website and that way I don't have to endure the idiocy of talking to an ex-homemaker or retired gym teacher who never liked cars trying to make his draw by down-selling me into a car I don't want?
