Received letter from FCA (yeah it actually says FCA not Stellantis) about the RF-Hub enhanced security feature. So seems they're starting to filter down to prior model years now. It doesn't mention any other enhanced security features.

Hoping they do the glass break and motion sensor eventually. Guess I'll call the dealership and see if they have a clue.

I wonder what a new RF Hub costs vs. the cost of two extra keys.

As mentioned above there seems to be bugs, and also the limitation of no replacing
lost keys without a new hub.

I had a theft attempt on my car, but I don't know if I'll get this update.

They didn't get the car on the attempt (kill switch) and I have even more security mods now.
I'm pretty sure I don't need this update. I'll be watching what people report on it though.

Can you please confirm that you can have additional keys made at a discount before locking down the RE-Hub. This was part of the original announcement.

"There is only one downside to the Key Programming Lockdown. The same process is also what the dealership uses to make new keys for your Challenger or Charger, so if you have the lockdown performed, you will no longer be able to have a new key made unless you buy a new module. The module lists for $159, so if you lose all of your keys, you will need to buy new keys and a new module before having the key reprogrammed.

Dodge is aware that not being able to reprogram new keys can prove to be a headache down the road, so when owners take their Challenger or Charger in to have this software installed via a reflash of the computer system, they can also opt to have up to 2 keys made at a discounted rate."

I got this yesterday, I understand FCA is not responsible for lost keys in the future, but I still think this is a BS workaround/option. Lose a key or key in the future and you have to pay for the keys and hub...keys alone are about $130 unless you want to take a chance on an eBay find. After parts and labor if you want to survive with more than 1 key you'll be dishing out close to $400 probably.

The notice said NOTHING about buying keys at the time of flash for a DISCOUNT. Or that the extra programming was covered during the flash. It's exactly what Rio Lobo posted, that's it. It says you can buy extra keys and have them programmed AT YOUR EXPENSE.

F that noise after owning 9 SRTS, 4 of which were Hellcat variants.

I don't know, I'm 63 years old and have not lost a car key yet. I am going to give it a little more time but I think I am going to have it done.
Unless I have to leave the car, I will not leave my car at my local Fu$%#@ up dealership!

Older than 63 but I too have not lost a key yet. But I have had RF keys wear out/fail over the years. Not looking forward to having to not only pay for a new key and all that goes with it getting it introduced to the car's security system but additionally buying a new RF hub (one can only wonder what that will cost in a few years) and the labor to replace it and whatever is required to get it to work after installation.

Dropped off my Challenger at the dealership today for the RF-Hub update. Took a copy of the Dodge announcement with the discounted keys section highlighted. Will let you know what the 2 additional keys cost me in the end.

Where are you getting this discounted keys notice. OP and mine said no such thing.

Update: I am having 1 additional black key and 1 additional red key made before locking down the RF-Hub. The dealership did not have the keys in stock, but did quote me $400 for both keys cut and programmed. $400 is the standard charge. The dealership was unsurprisingly uninformed about either the security update or the discounted keys. I'm waiting on an email reply from Dodge to see if I can secure the discount. but I will have the keys made either way. Will let you know what I pay in the end.

By the way... For Redeye owners having keys made, make sure to check that the dealership is giving you a Redeye red key. The Redeye red keys have a red eye, the Hellcat red keys do not.

With that number in mind, then it'll cost well over $600 in the future if you do this update and lose a key(s).

No thanks. Not supposed to steal cars. So if they take mine it's their bad and the police can look for them, I'll simply get something new. It's just a car.

Mine:

"You will be provided the option to purchase and program additional key fobs for your vehicle at your expense..."

Geeze, thanks for giving me that option. No mention of any discounts.

I'll wait. NH has one of the lowest crime rates, plus Constitutional Carry.

I bought 2 keys for my cat and 2 for my srt jeep, had a mobile locksmith come and program both vehicles, total cost for keys and programming was like $500, better off doing that then having the dealer lock it.
