Hello everyone, I am new to hellcat ownership but very familiar with mopar products. Anyways, I recently purchased and fitted the LMI intake for my 2016 challenger, I am aware that there are many other forums with this discussion etc. but, everyone I went to I couldn’t find the answer I was looking for. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do, my main issue is the A/C lines running through the bottom of where the intake rests. Let me know if there are any solutions you can think of, I will attach photos. Thanks

If the filter is hitting the lines, loosen the clamp and pull filter away until it clears, tighten clamp.

Did you use the zip tie that came with the kit? You may have to change the angle that the tube enters the throttle body couplers. Also try pulling the filter away as stated above. Legmaker makes a great product, but the fitment leaves a lot to be desired. But once you get it in place you are golden.

Yea, just one of the reasons I did away with my LMI and went with aFe Magnum Force Stage 2. Not only is it a better product but it fits better too. I think LMI had a great following form the previous gen Hemi's so everyone bought them for the Hellcat's thinking it was the best intake available. It may have been at one point but not anymore.

install in the order.
clamp on throttle body.
filter on tube. Don’t push it on to far then clamp
tube in other end of clamp
Push down slightly to lower filter and then tighten clamp.

I already tried that my first time installing, later to find out it started rubbing again. I oddly didn’t get a zip tie.

I was considering the Afe, but after searching the forums it seemed no one liked that intake… i figured I’d get the LMI just for sound but honestly might try a different one just because of the worry of it getting wet.

Also, it cannot hit the side of the engine bay as well correct? Because I could fit it to that side but, it would be resting on the side. I apologize but to be completely honest with you guys and gals, I am not the most mechanically inclined person, even when it’s something as simple as installing an intake.

That's because you were reading about the older aFe intake that was enclosed. It was not popular. The Magnum Force 2 is a totally different intake and flows better than anything available.

Interesting. I'm trying my LMI tonight at the drags. To see if I pick up any aircharge or boost.
Have you done any testing with the AFE? Just curious how it compares

I'll have to look for it thanks. I just bought the LMI for looks. As far as gains I don't think I'll see a whole lot. I'm actually worried about heat in the lanes and then after the burnout. We will see. Rain is showing in the forecast so it may wait for another day.

made 2 runs last night. The lmi heated up a lot waiting to make the pass. Where the stock box was staying cooler. My60ft weren’t great but consistent. It is what it is for a Wednesday.

Everyone observes the same thing when switching to an aftermarket intake, the stock airbox supposedly doesn't heat soak as quickly but the aftermarket intakes also cool down quicker. I've never noted anyone going any quicker with a stock airbox, you may not gain any or much with an aftermarket intake but you won't be going any slower than a stock airbox either.

So how much louder is the afe super charger whine over the lmi whine? I run the lmi without the shield as I don’t drive the car in the rain. I run the rain resistant sock over the filter and I keep the plate in the trunk just in case I need it. If it’s really a good amount louder then I would absolutely consider getting it. The lmi seems pretty loud but who wouldn’t want more sc noise?
