Tried to post this yesterday but I’m not seeing it so I’ll try again.
I’m really liking the ‘21 RE base wheels and apparently so are the owners because no one really wants to part with theirs. Came across these flow formed repros. They say theyre a hybrid of cast and forged. Ive always been reluctant with cast repros in the past because of strength concerns at speed, and that may be unfounded but it’s in my head lol. Especially when I know my stockers are forged already. Wondering if flow formed would be any stronger or more stable than cast at say 150mph. Thoughts?

Nothing wrong with flow formed, also known as hybrid forged and spun forged too. They are stronger than cast and not quite as strong as true forged. I run a set of Vossen hybrid forged wheels on my Camaro ZL1. Plenty of people run cast wheels to 200mph so there's no reason to believe that a set of hybrid forged won't work even better. The biggest advantage is typically weight, since hybrid forged wheels are slightly stronger, they can also be slightly lighter, same can be said with true forged wheels. Cast wheels aren't terrible, they just weigh more because they need more material to make them stronger.

There was a post on one of the Facebook groups from a guy that road courses his Charger HC. I don't remember the brand he mentioned (not the brand you posted) but he was under the impression they were forged and a wheel failed this weekend. Turned out it was flow formed. The center broke right out.

That’s sort of what I was worried about although I wouldnt be racing with them. Im sure road coursing puts a huge amount of lateral stress on the that straight runs at speed prob wouldnt.

Anything is possible but its highly unlikely unless he damaged the wheel somehow or it was defective. As long as you buy from a legitimate wheel company and not some off name Chinese knock off, you'll be fine. The Shelby GT500 comes with flow formed wheels from the factory and its made for anything you can throw at it, drag racing or road racing.

Are Vertini flow formed?
Rotary flow formed so yes. Again, anything is possible but 99% of people will never see a wheel failure like that.

I agree. He really pushes his car hard on those road courses.

He also said after 4 years, I don't know if it was 4 years on those wheels though.

With those hideous mods on the car, honestly, I think the car was just trying to put itself out of it's misery

He road races his car, A LOT, and puts it through hell. He's very serious about it. He's broken countless parts on his car. Honestly, he's in the wrong car for what he enjoys doing but as long as he is willing to keep replacing parts, its his money.

I've been watching his posts for a little while. Though it may not be astetically appealing, it seems like everything he has done has made it a better track car. There are definitely better cars that could handle the track better but it's pretty cool watching his videos.
