Cop Nails Unmodified 2022 Hyundai Elantra N for Loud Exhaust
It's a catch-22 situation for this owner, whose unmodified car must be "repaired" to be re-registered.
While I agree that both the officer and the smog ref aren't that bright, the biggest idiot in this story is the car owner for kicking the hornets nest into the sleeping bear's ass in the first place. Karma is indeed a *****.So the cop and the smog ref were both idiots. Now the owner will need to sue just to get the car registered again. More time and money wasted for the owner. Welcome to the People's Republic.
OR just maybe - call me crazy - they just dont like retarded fart can noise. Not sure how climate change has one iota to do with obnoxious morons irritating everyone else. This guy just happened to have a loud stock exhaust.Yes, this is big deal in California they’re putting up sound radar to catch the fossil vehicles in places they shouldn’t be and basically harass vehicles that make noise. Harleys/muscle cars. Everything they hate. This is part two of the war on fossil/gas cars. Climate change is the new Covid and they’re coming after fossils. The media will whip them up and be protesting gas stations and blaming YOU! for climate change and all the problems in the world. It’s coming
Radar can measure how loud my car is?Yes, this is big deal in California they’re putting up sound radar to catch the fossil vehicles in places they shouldn’t be and basically harass vehicles that make noise.
I don't care what the noise emits from. Car, truck, big rig Jake brakes, motorcycles (crotch rockets or Harleys) farm equipment, whatever. 102 dB is annoying as ****. Especially at night, when you just got your baby/kid/puppy/etc. to fall asleep. My suburban neighborhood is not your racetrack, fuckstick.OR just maybe - call me crazy - they just dont like retarded fart can noise. Not it. I'm allergic to California.
Rofl. What? I was CERTAIN that was you!Not it. I'm allergic to California.
I have enjoyed giving a few guys like you a ride in our shops 2022 Elantra N. Heck of a car for the money in that segment. Doesn’t matter if you’re interested in that segment or not, it’s a very fun car with some great tech. Never thought I would do more than rent a Kia because I didn’t have a choice, but it has serious potential even in stock formRofl. What? I was CERTAIN that was you!
So I checked this state’s maximum permitted for a motorcycle is 85 db. 95 for cars n trucks. That’s in one part of the codes. Another part has charts for what year it was made, and what the gvw is, and is slightly lower than the 85/95 numbers. Even for stuff from the 70’s. All the numbers are to be measured at 50’ from the centerline of the lane
iow I could be running open headers and cruise by one of those machines (if they ever actually start using them here) and not trip the camera - as long as I cruise on by and kept the throttle neutral
I’m totally with the cop in the article btw. Burble is not cool coming from a Ferrari. A Hyundai nfw
It looks like a Great car for the money.......................as long as you don't live in California!I have enjoyed giving a few guys like you a ride in our shops 2022 Elantra N. The factory burbles in N mode are a form of factory anti lag, and it works well
